IS NATUROPATHY EVIDENCE-BASED?

The nuances of natural medicines struggle to be held to the same empirical standards as other chemicals in research settings.

Plants are extremely complex organisms, so it can be very difficult to understand them in the same ways we can understand single ingredient chemicals and compounds. And when you couple that with the extreme complexity of being human, it’s nearly impossible to use conventional testing methods.

In vivio, in vitro and human clinical trials do definitely exist for natural therapies, with more and more being conducted and published each month. The unfortunate fact of funding requirements prevent the same quality/quantity to exist as it does for commercially profitable ingredients and medications.

While I wholeheartedly believe more funding should be utilized to understand natural medicines better, I also believe that there is a limit to how much empirical science can tell us as it does not always give us the full picture.

Empirical science and testing methods are limited by the technology available and the comprehension of researchers. And just because we don’t understand the entirety of the natural world doesn’t make it not real!

INTERPRETING MY OWN PATHOLOGY FOR OPTIMAL RANGES ☀️

It’s important to mention here that while pathology is an incredibly important part of the picture, it is not the whole picture.

Pathology tests are a snapshot of what certain markers are saying at that exact point in time. They are always changing.

Which its why re-testing becomes an important factor. As well as working with a qualified practitioner so you know what exactly to test for and why.

Using these results + the symptoms that I have been experiencing, I am able to see a bigger picture and identify how to support myself.

Stay tuned to see what I’ll be recommending for myself!!

FIVE THINGS I WISH EVERYONE WITH PAINFUL PERIODS KNEW ❤️❤️❤️

(1) Painful periods are not normal! And a sign of something deeper needing attention to prevent experiencing excessive pain and inflammation around menstruation.

(2) Retrograde menstruation theory is OUT and Mülleriosis theory is IN. This new origin theory of endometrial lesions is backed by the fact lesions have been found in AMAB (assigned male at birth) individuals and even infants!

(3) Experience heavy bleeding alongside painful periods? Adenomyosis and fibroids need to be ruled out.

(4) Digestive complaints? An inflamed gut can lead to leaky gut, triggering a systemic inflammatory response that makes your periods more painful than they should to be.

(5) A blood marker CA125 can be used to help identify risk for endometriosis and pelvic masses.

Women’s health is finally catching up in the academic world but its slow to transition to public knowledge.

Painful periods are not a fixed experience in life!!! End women’s suffering!!

HTMA testing can be such a valuble tool in clinic to assess multiple minerals at once (even ones you can’t test accurately in blood such as magnesium and calcium).

WHILST also assessing heavy metal burden. This makes it such a great insight into hormone health, inflammation status and more.

Something to consider if you are looking to conceive soon, working with a naturopath on your HTMA may be your next step.

My Recent Op Shop Haul in

I am slowly making the transition for every thing in my home to be low-tox, low-waste and as natural as possible.

It’s a common misconception that to do this requires you to be super rich. That’s not always the case, as you can see here with my op shop finds.
