Natural vs Clean Skincare. Good or bad? 👀
Well, it’s actually neither…or either!
The terms natural and clean are, in our view, problematic.
Because what is the benchmark?
For example, zinc sunscreens are often referred to as “natural”.
But zinc oxide is a chemical compound.
So how do we actually define it?
We’d actually much rather talk about the actual ingredients, the science behind them, and how they benefit YOUR skin.
And yes! We absolutely apply that same critical thinking to the skincare we stock!
Take Epicutis.
It’s listed on the EWG’s “clean” products list.
Only a handful of ingredients.
They exclude parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances and artificial dyes.
But that’s not what makes it great….
What makes it great is what the formulation actually DOES.
The ingredients are selected and combined for a purpose. To support skin barrier function, improve hydration and help calm visible signs of inflammation.
And MUCH more importantly, we look at the evidence behind those ingredients, not just the marketing claims surrounding them.
Because a product isn’t automatically better because it contains fewer ingredients.
And an ingredient isn’t automatically harmful because it’s synthetic or difficult to pronounce.
In fact, some of the most effective and extensively researched ingredients in skincare definitely wouldn’t meet society’s current definitions of “clean”.
So here’s what we want you to question:
Are we judging skincare by what’s been left OUT, or by what the ingredients left IN?
And,
Does it work?
Is it safe?
And is it right for YOUR skin?
What’s your opinion on clean skincare? We’d love to know…. 🤍
Gry’s upper bleph update 🤌
Here’s little snippets of my journey.
Here’s the answers to what most people are asking:
Surgeon: DR BENJAMIN BURT MBBS FRANZCO Specialist Ophthalmologist
Cost: $10k (*this varies)
Where: In office (Melbourne) under local anaesthetic
Pain: 0/10 (literally felt nothing…)
Recovery: much quicker than I expected! Probably 2 days of pain/ stinging (5/10). I went out for dinner on day 3, wearing my sunnies 😁
Total healing time: 1 week I’d say.
I do want to stress that though I had an easy recovery and it was a “simple” procedure (only because I was in the hands of someone with the utmost expertise who has performs this exact procedure thousands of times), this is still surgery.
And I’d never want to undermine that all surgeries come with risks and everyone’s journey is different.
The whole experience for me, being in the industry, was a 10/10. The whole team looked after me so well 🙏
If there’s anything I haven’t answered yet, ask away.

“I don’t need a patch test - I’ve had this [insert laser…] before…” 👀 Is this you? If so we need you to READ THIS! 👇
A patch test is how we find the highest setting your skin can safely tolerate, which is where we get results.
Many clinics have the same laser, BBL or IPL.
And even if you’ve had laser before - even on the same device- and even if we had the EXACT settings they used - we still need to patch test.
And here’s why:
✅ devices are maintained and calibrated on different schedules
✅ clinician experience, procedures and treatment philosophies vary from clinci to clinic
✅ your skin changes. Sun exposure, hormones, skincare, medications. All of it shifts how your skin absorbs energy and responds to treatment
A patch test tells us how your skin responds TODAY.
With THIS device.
With THIS clinician.
So we can treat you safely AND effectively.
Oh, and it’s also standard practice guidelines✌️
THE BODY IS AMAZING! 🥹
Day 3 I was lucky enough to have my friend Bee The BEETOX Method®️| Australia’s first Lymphatic Wellness Spa come in and give me a lymphatic treatment to speed up the healing, remove stagnant lymph and clear some of the remaining bruising.
I must admit I’ve probably been the WORST patient (sorry DR BENJAMIN BURT MBBS FRANZCO Specialist Ophthalmologist 😅) but my team and Bee have made up for it. Stitches come out Tuesday and then I’ll do an updated journey.
Lots of you have asked who did my surgery, how much it cost and how I chose my surgeon - as well as what I did in the healing after.
If you missed my stories let me know and I’ll include those details in my update.

48 hours post my upper blepharoplasty 👀
I’ll do a full day by day including what I’ve done during the healing etc in a few days.
For now though, healing well and back to work from day 1 🥳
I’ve gotten so many questions about this journey. If you want to know more ask away….

We said what we said ✌️
“Clean Beauty” is probably one of the most over used, non scientific, marketing terms in the 21st century.
“Natural” isn’t a safety assessment.
“Chemical-free” is scientifically problematic.
And a preservative isn’t something your skin needs protecting from.Sometimes it’s the thing protecting you from bacteria, mould and other microorganisms that has no place being on your skin.
The dose and the formulation makes the poison …
