For years, women have been taught to fear fat 🥴
So we bought the low-fat yoghurts, avoided egg yolks or eggs entirely (this was a big one), drank skinny milk, ordered dressing on the side, and genuinely believed that less fat meant better health, lower cholesterol yada yada yada.. .
But when it comes to skin health, fat is essential because your skin barrier is made up of lipids. Fat is required for the absorption of vitamins A, D, E and K, and essential fatty acids play important roles in maintaining hydration, supporting repair and helping regulate inflammation.
That doesn’t mean eating more processed foods or adding butter to everything. It means shifting the conversation from “eat less fat” to “choose better quality fat.”

Did you grow up during the low-fat era? I’d love to know what you were told about eating fat👇

One of the biggest misconceptions I see in the skin space is that you need to start treating your skin from the inside OR the outside. But let’s be real. You need both.

Because while a serum can support your skin barrier, it can’t calm a stressed nervous system just like a facial can reduce inflammation topically but it can’t correct a nutrient deficiency.

And the most beautiful skincare routine in the world won’t overcome poor sleep, gut dysfunction, chronic stress, or an overactive immune response.

So here’s where I come in:
I look at what’s happening on the surface?
And what’s happening underneath it?

I want to understand your skin, but I also want to understand you.

Your digestion - do you suffer from reflux, indigestion bloating, constipation, diarrhea.

Your stress levels - have you always been anxious or it’s is it a more recent occurrence. Do you suffer from panic attacks? What does a day in your life look like?

Your energy. Do you wake up tired are you exhausted at 3 PM? I need an afternoon nap. Are you always tired? What motivates you?

Your sleep. What time do you go to sleep? What time do you wake up? Do you sleep throughout the night? Do you have nightmares or vivid dreams?

Your diet. What’s the first thing you eat upon waking and what time is that usually? What comes next? What comes after that? What’s your fave thing to eat? anything you avoid?

Your health history. Has your skin always been this way? Do you have any other health concerns? Have you had any major illnesses throughout your life? Do you have any healthy issues that run in your family.

These are all things that may not seem related to your skin but totally are.

Because skin health is rarely just skin 😉

Your skin is a living organ and how it ages is influenced by far more than just the skincare and products that you put on it.

As an integrative skin therapist and naturopath my approach to skin health is always an inside-out and outside-in approach because the most meaningful changes always happen when we support the body as a whole 💛

There is something really special about supporting someone through cystic acne 💛

Not just because of that feeling when their skin finally clears but because of who they become in the process.

Cystic acne is rarely just “surface level.”

It’s inflammation.
It’s stress.
It’s gut-immune cross-talk.
It’s barrier dysfunction.

It’s often years of trying everything and feeling defeated.

So when a client tells me they’ve been acne-free for 8 months but but still come in because they love how their skin feels, and how calm they feel in the space .. that’s the real win 🏆

Because the goal was never just to “clear acne.”

It was to build resilient skin.
To regulate the nervous system.
To support the body from the inside-out and outside-in.
To create consistency instead of quick fixes.

And maybe most importantly to create a space where you feel safe and supported while we do it.

Skin health is a long game.
NOT a viral product.
NOT a 10-step routine.
NOT a one-off miracle treatment.

Just a well thought out, intentional and integrative approach over time.

If you’re feeling stuck with your skin right now, I see you. And there is another way.

Let’s talk about something that gets missed in skincare conversations… Your Make up 💄

And some people are not gonna like this . But even the most “clean”, “natural”, skin-loving formulas can become problematic when they’re old, contaminated, or poorly stored.

And even those of you using more natural “clean” formulas for your make up 👇

Natural makeup often contains fewer preservatives which is great BUT it also means it needs replacing more regularly.

Old makeup =
➡️ More bacteria
➡️ More inflammation
➡️ More breakouts
➡️ More “mystery” skin issues

Especially if you’re acne-prone, sensitive, or dealing with rosacea/perioral dermatitis.

My non-negotiables:
✔️ Clean brushes weekly
✔️ Replace creams regularly
✔️ Mascara every 3–6 months
✔️ Don’t cover up irritation

Your skin deserves better than a 3-year-old concealer 😅

If you’re struggling with stubborn skin and “doing everything right” sometimes this is the missing piece.

Save this 📌

Share with your makeup-loving friends
And tell me: what’s the oldest product in your bag right now? Honestly 👀💛

I kind of loved this trend, so here’s a little reflection on the year that was.

The year I stepped away from teaching Beauty Therapy to be a stay-at-home mum so I could soak up every moment watching my babies grow… and realised that staying home wasn’t quite 100% me.

The year of bangs. Loved them then hated them then loved them again.

The year of the side hustle. We set up and operated two Airbnb apartments in the city and hosted over 500 guests. This was a fun learning experience. I learned a lot of about business through this. Met some pretty awesome humans from all walks of life too.

The year I chose to return to study and follow my dream of becoming a Naturopath, with a vision of merging it with skin therapy one day.

The year of the best snacks that somehow disappeared off the face of the earth.

The year of beautiful friendships — some forever, some that gently drifted as life took us in different directions.

A year with no regrets. Every part of it shaped who I am today 💛
