🔴 PHOTOBIOMODULATION - LED/LASER 🔴
You’ve probably seen Red Light Therapy a lot online.
But what is it? And how can it help you?
LED Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths and colours of light-emitting diods (LED) to stimulate cellular processes. We specifically use Red and Near-infrared as it penetrates the tissues below the dermis to muscle tissue, connective tissue and joints.
It helps reduce pain, inflammation, swelling, and muscle spasm while supporting tissue repair and protecting injured or degenerating tissue. This therapy increases oxygen levels and energy production to sick and injured cells, enhancing the body’s natural healing response.
For best results, 2–3 sessions per week are recommended during the healing phase. Sessions typically last 10–30 minutes and are non-invasive and pain-free.
LED/Laser Therapy is affective at helping conditions such as:
Musculoskeletal Pain
Acute Muscle Strains
Acute Ligament Sprains
Bursitis
Arthritis
Frozen Shoulder
This treatment option is incorporated into our Myotherapy/Remedial Massage Plus treatments to really maximise treatment outcomes.

WHAT IS A MYOTHERAPIST?
A Myotherapist could also be called Muscle-Therapist.
Thats what we do.
We spend years learning all things musculoskeletal.
We learn how to assess and how to treat muscle related injuries and conditions.
Myotherapy is largely a hands on practise, but it’s more than a massage.
You’re getting someone who understands how your body works.

TIGHT GLUTES
What causes our glutes to get so tight and sore?
There can be a few reasons for this but most commonly we see either -
Overuse - Example: You’ve upped your running or training, but you’ve done too much too soon. Or you’ve done more than what you would normally do. And now your glutes are telling you something.
Underuse - Example: You drive a lot for work. Or maybe you work a lot of hours at a desk. You wear high heeled boots or shoes a lot. Any one of these can cause your glute muscles to “switch off”. This then leads to your glutes being underused. Now other muscles are also trying to help you so you’re potentially opening yourself up for more problems.
What happens when glutes are tight?
Tight glutes can lead to muscle strains (tears), tendon issues (tendonitis) and potentially irritation of nearby structures like bursas (bursitis)
How can Remedial Massage or Myotherapy help me?
Your therapists will help determine why your glutes are tight.
This can be through taking an extensive history and testing the muscles length (stretching) and strength ability.
This then helps them create a treatment plan and ables them to prescribe appropriate home exercises that may include stretching, spiky ball/foam rolling and proper muscle activation techniques.

THE FOUNDATIONS OF A GREAT TEAM
As a team, we work hard on making sure we’re always learning and improving as therapists.
One of the ways we do this is holding regular, in-house training sessions and discussions about different assessment and treatment techniques.
We believe in supporting and collaborating with each other to lift each other up so we can better treat our patients.
One of the things we often hear from patients is how lucky they are to have found a place where they know they could see any one of our therapists and know they’re going to get a great outcome.
To book your next treatment, head over to our online bookings at www.healthwisetherapies.com.au or call reception on 03 5975 7867

ARCHLINE FOOTWEAR
A Summer staple
Our feet are our foundation. How your sit can determine the quality of your movement, posture and balance.
Poor foot and ankle biomechanics can cause musculoskeletal issues up the chain.
This can result in knee, hip and/or low back pain.
We chose Archline as they are specially designed alongside Podiatrists and Physiotherapists to ensure they create a product that properly supports your foot.
With warmer weather approaching, our clinic often see patients complaining of foot pain and a flare up of Plantar Fasciitis type pain as we transition to summer footwear.
This is why proper, supportive footwear is so important
Ask your therapists if Archline is right for you.

• ROTATOR CUFF TEAR •
What is your Rotator Cuff?
It’s made up of four seperate muscles called:
Supraspinatus
Infraspinatus
Subscapularis
Teres Minor
Together they work to rotate and stabilise the shoulder joint
What is a Rotator Cuff tear?
A tear is when one or more of these muscles (usually the Supraspinatus) has torn to some extent at the tendon that attaches to the top of humerus (the bone for your upper arm)
Tears can be graded as small (grade 1) to major (grade 3)
Symptoms:
Pain around the shoulder
Pain when lifting - especially lifting away from your body
Weakness in the arm
Crackling when the shoulder moves
So what can Remedial Massage / Myotherapy do to help?
Reduce further tension on the muscle and tendon
Reduce pain and tension from compensation movements and muscle guarding
Prescribe home exercises to rehabilitate torn muscles
For injuries like this we would also recommend Red LED Light Therapy and Photobiomodulation (Cold Laser) for rapid healing
