Financial hardship is recognised as a contributing factor in su***de risk, but do we really understand what those two words mean?
It's not always one major event. Sometimes it's a series of setbacks, unexpected expenses and financial pressures that slowly wear someone down.
For someone already struggling with their mental health, these pressures can contribute to feelings of helplessness and hopelessness.
What we see is financial hardship. What we may not see is the emotional pain behind it.
That's why understanding the person, not just their circumstances, is so important.
Sometimes the greatest struggle is the one nobody sees. ❤️
