After working with more than 400 salons, clinics and studios on profitable pricing, here’s what I found:
👉 91.2% were undercharging or barely breaking even.
👉 Only 1 in 22 based their pricing on actual numbers.
👉 21 out of 22 were pricing emotionally or based on competitors.
👉 Only 1 in 8 sole traders consistently paid themselves a wage.
👉 More than 50% weren’t paying themselves superannuation.
That should stop every business owner in their tracks.
Because this isn’t just about pricing.
It’s about spending years building a business without knowing whether it’s actually capable of paying you properly, funding your future or creating long-term wealth.
I’ve seen owners who are fully booked but still stressed about paying wages.
Owners transferring money into their personal account whenever they need groceries because they don’t have a consistent wage.
Owners putting off paying themselves super, hoping they’ll “catch up one day.”
Owners making big investment decisions without ever knowing what it actually costs to run their business.
The truth is, you can’t make confident pricing decisions until you know your numbers.
It all starts with one question:
How much does it actually cost to open your doors each week?
If you don’t know the answer, that’s the first thing to fix.
I’ve put together my free Breakeven Cost Calculator to help you calculate exactly what it costs to run your business each week, month and year…so you can stop guessing and start making decisions with clarity.

The best opportunities in business rarely come from networking.
They come from relationships.
Too many people walk into a room thinking, “What can I get from this?”
The people who build the strongest networks ask a different question:
“What value can I bring?”
Lead with generosity.
Share your contacts.
Open doors for others.
Celebrate other people’s wins.
Because the people who give the most value are often the ones who create the biggest opportunities.

When I was 20, I took a month off to travel through Vietnam.
I thought my business would keep running without me.
It didn’t.
By the time I got home, everything that could break... had broken.
At the time, it felt like a failure.
Looking back, it was one of the biggest lessons I’ve ever learned.
It showed me exactly where my business was relying on me instead of relying on systems.
From that moment on, I changed the way I built every business.
Because if you want to scale, grow a team, or create real freedom, your business can’t depend on you for everything.
The strength of your business will always come down to the strength of your systems.

Busy doesn’t always mean profitable.
This business wasn’t failing. It had loyal clients, consistent bookings, and one of its most popular services accounted for almost 500 appointments in a year.
But once we looked at the numbers, the reality was very different.
This is exactly why I believe every business owner needs to know their numbers…not to charge the highest prices, but to charge prices that allow their business to survive, pay their team properly, and still make a profit.
When businesses are forced to compete on price, everyone loses.
It becomes a race to the bottom that leaves owners overworked, underpaid, and wondering why they’re still struggling despite being fully booked.
Revenue is vanity. Profit is what pays your bills.
Have you ever worked out how much profit you actually make from your most popular service?

As business owners, we’ll invest in our team, our education, our marketing, and our growth…
But when it comes to paying ourselves?
We tell ourselves, “I’ll do it when the business grows.”
“When revenue increases.”
“When things settle down.”
The problem is… there’s always another expense.
If your business can afford to take care of everyone except the person carrying the vision, something needs to change.
A successful business shouldn’t just generate more revenue, it should create more freedom.
Because if you’re working harder every year without rewarding yourself, you’re not building a business.
You’re building yourself another job.

The highest ROI investments in my business aren’t always what you’d expect

Most of the things we stress about today won’t matter in 10 years.
The rejection.
The awkward moment.
The opinion of someone you’ll probably never think about again.
But the moments with the people you love?
The risks you took.
The dreams you chased.
The memories you created.
Those are the things you’ll remember.
Life is shorter than we think, and none of us know how much time we have left.
So stop waiting.
Stop overthinking.
Stop talking yourself out of the things you really want.
Be present.
Take the shot.
Make the memory.
