It’s not about how much we give… but how much love we put into giving.
A lot of my ‘Prana ladies’ are mums. Most are young mums with toddlers, but some of them are mums, like me, who have grown-up children. One day, not very long ago, two women of very different ages sat chatting over a cup of chai in the Prana lounge. The younger woman asked, ‘Do you have children?’ The other was silent for a moment, then beamed and replied, ‘Yes I do. You know, it’s been the longest time since anyone asked me that. How kind of you!’
How easy it is to be a little dismissive of older women, and forget that while their children are now adults, nothing has fundamentally changed. Older women are still mums: less ‘hands-on’, certainly; human and imperfect like we all are, yes. In the best of worlds they are wise enough to hand on the generational baton and remain quietly watchful, just in case…
