Why do hair extensions sometimes end up a totally different colour to your natural hair after a few washes?

Because most of the time, nobody thought about it at the consultation.

This client came to us with a beautiful warm natural colour and copper inspiration photos saved on her phone. She wanted more length and more volume, but she didn't want extensions that would fade out of sync with her own hair a few washes down the track.

Copper is one of the hardest colours to blend when it comes to hair extensions. Get it slightly wrong and you end up with a visible line where the extensions start. Jo made it seamless.

Here's how. At the consultation we chose three different hair extension colours, each with a slightly different dimension, as close as possible to her starting colour. Then we custom coloured each one individually, along with her own hair, to build one bespoke shade that moves through her whole head naturally.

Matching the extensions this closely to her starting colour matters for more than just day one. It means her natural hair and her extensions will fade at the same rate. There is nothing worse than loving your colour on install day and then watching your natural hair and your extensions drift apart after a few washes.

Micro weft or invisi tape? We get asked this constantly, and the honest answer is, it depends on your hair and your goal.

Micro weft is our go-to for most people. It has one of the finest seams available, so fine and flexible that it suits most hair types, blends seamlessly and sits with maximum comfort against the scalp. We can build real volume without any bulk at the roots, using up to 3 rows around the head, and there's no itchy fringe section underneath like older machine wefts.

Invisi tape works differently. It's manufactured using a hand-injected method, so each piece looks completely flawless, just like hair growing from your own scalp. We apply two pieces together, sandwiching your natural hair between them, so they sit completely flat with no bulk. It's one of the most undetectable methods we offer, and because it's applied in smaller, targeted sections, it works especially well higher up near your parting, or in specific spots that other methods find harder to cover. In our salon it's most popular as a gap filler or for adding thickness to fine sides. A weft applies weight all the way round the head, so it isn't always the right option there. Tape lets us place hair only where your natural hair can hold it.

Both use the same quality hair and both last 9 to 12 months with proper care. Neither one is "better" they just solve different problems.
