Updated Results - Swipe for the before!

You may remember my share of this GORGEOUS girls initial results back in June.

Well after working together consistently with weekly / fortnightly appointments the changes are really starting to show now!

This is not just about a reduction in breakouts,
There has been a beautiful overall improvement in the way the skin looks.

✨ There is visible softening in the appearance of break outs & scarring.
✨ We are seeing a much calmer complexion with less redness leading to a more even skin tone.
✨ Client has noted a changed in puffiness

& most importantly

✨ Skin is looking overall healthier as we continue support rather than stress the skin barrier!!

So how did we get here?

We have consistently adjusted treatments to what the skin needs at each appointment rather than tried to aggressively fix things.
We take into consideration environmental changes as the client flys a lot and our girl is very much of top of internal health with supplements to support both a healthy gut and immune response.

We have changed home care to a simplistic Murad routine rather than introduced too many new actives
focusing on a salicylic cleanser to work on pores, texture and break outs while replenishing the skin barrier with a every day hydrating moisturiser.

When my client initially felt too dry, we just altered the routine to find a better balance.

Skin changes take time and this is such a lovely example of what can happen when we work together

I need to thank my client for trusting in me and committing to the treatment programme with consistent bookings and willingness to change what was already used and enjoyed at home.

I NEVER push products and im always more than happy to recommend a brand you wish to use but remember, if your utilising something at home that isn’t changing the skin in the way you wish, it may be time to switch it up .šŸ–¤

Lets discuss sebaceous filaments šŸ–¤

Lately I’ve had clients talk about their congestion around the nose and chin area.
They see darker or greyish spots on the nose (sometimes the forehead) and will look to obtain extractions , admitting to squeezing these at home ( tutut🤣)

However, what I’m finding is these darker spots are wrongly assumed to be blackheads.

They are actually sebaceous filaments which are your skin’s natural structure that helps bring oil (sebum) to the surface of skin to both hydrate and protect.

Yes we can certainly have an overproduction of sebum at the skin’s surface enhancing the look of clogged pores ,

We can absolutely clear these (and you will find stuff does come out)

However,

because they are part of our skin’s natural oil flow, they will just fill right back up!!

The best way to actually manage this is consistency in skincare to help control the overproduction of oil.

Here are my suggestions if you are finding you may in fact have sebaceous filament especially around your T zone area.

BHAs such as salicylic acid to help manage oil (My top pick!)
AHAs such as glycolic acid for exfoliation and overall texture
Retinoids where appropriate ( a few nights per week)
Consistency in cleansing
Hydration (a good active free moisturiser )
Daily SPF for environmental protection

RememberšŸ‘‡šŸ¼

Sebaceous filaments — NATURAL!!
Structures needed for healthy oil flow to the skin, sometimes more prominent when your sebaceous glands are producing more sebum.

Blackheads — open comedones where the contents of the pore are exposed to air, these oxidise turning the debris darker and more noticeable.

Both can safely be extracted, however one is much better treated with skincare rather than squeezing .

This has been a topic lately, especially with the increase of Asmr facials etc so I thought I’d explain why you wont see these tools in my treatment room.

Sidenote, a beautiful client has introduced me to some lovely cushiony ( is cushiony a word?) facial sponges,

These are now on route to salon & should cater to those after a more sensory experience

Do I think fluffy cleansing brushes and silky soft mask brushes feel beautiful? Absolutely i do!!

They can make a treatment feel incredibly luxurious and they certainly entice others with beautifully posed pics …

But for me personally, I’ve always felt most comfortable using my hands or single use disposables where possible.

It’s simply my own beliefs to leave these tools aside especially when skin has been exfoliated and is more vulnerable.

don’t get me wrong, I do treat with no shoes on which is a whole other conversation but something I was always taught to do when sharing energies- Grounding myself is important but i promise at no point
during treatment will my feet ever come into contact with your skin .šŸ˜‚
