When icons collide Dermalogica Australia x MaxMay PREP LIKE A PRO Masterclass 🩶
Loved learning Max’s pro tips for makeup skin prep using the iconic Daily Microfoliant. This product is truly a dream and works across every skin type, leaving the skin smooth, radiant and perfectly prepped for makeup.
I am convinced you cannot have flawless makeup without great skin prep!! It was also my first time trying N**e by Nature’s products (believe it or not) and it won’t be the last. Stunning textures that built beautifully and leave the skin looking like skin!
Because great makeup really does start with great skin ✨
The glowy base formula I use on all of my clients ✨
1. I literally never skip an exfoliator in skin prep, usually it’s a liquid exfoliator - I’m really liking Glow Exfoliator atm and for v sensitive skin I love Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner
2. Use skincare specific to the client’s skin type - if they are dry, I love using a serum and rich moisturiser and eye masks etc. really load up on the hydration. For oily skins I still use a serum and a lighter moisturiser. The biggest mistake I see MUA’s make is approaching skincare as a one-size-fits-all, it’s not.
3. Apply liquid highlighter to the high points of the skin - over primer and under foundation/skin tint, this gives a more flawless lit from within look.
4. Always powder the center of the face with a focus on the upper lip, center of the chin, forehead, sides of the nose and above the brows - you want to knock back the areas that would usually get sweaty. There can be a fine line between greasy and glowy!
5. Rehydrate the skin with a light mist - but don’t over-do it or you will disrupt the powder application. 3-4 sprays is enough and use a fan to dry it down. I’m a big fan of the OG setting mist and the matte one for oily skins.

One thing that can never be replaced by AI is lived experience. 17 years as a makeup artist has taught me a hell of a lot, so if I can help even one person feel more empowered and less alone in their journey, then all of the lessons have been worth it 🫶🏼

This was such a full-circle moment for me, as my beauty career actually began at the NP Academy when I was just 18 years old. I could never have imagined where the journey would lead me, but I’m forever grateful for the spark that was ignited in baby me all those years ago. 🥹
