One person.
Three different looks.
And that’s one of the reasons I love personal branding photography.
Your business doesn’t have just one side.
You might need a professional headshot for LinkedIn.
A more relaxed portrait for your website.
And something completely different for social media or marketing.
Changing the outfit, location, pose and expression can give you a completely different image — while still looking like you.
That’s what makes a personal branding session so useful.
It gives you a collection of photographs you can actually use.

“I’m not photogenic.”
I hear this in my studio all the time.
But being photogenic isn’t a skill you need to bring to a professional headshot session.
You don’t need to know where to put your hands. You don’t need to know which side to turn. And you definitely don’t need to practise poses in the mirror before you arrive.
That’s my job.
I’m looking at your posture, expression, chin position, shoulders, hands, clothing and how the light is falling on you. I’ll guide you through it and make small adjustments as we go.
Your job is basically to turn up, relax and let me direct you.
A good professional portrait should still feel like you, just the confident, polished version you want people to meet.
What’s the first thing you worry about when someone points a camera at you?
There’s a lot that happens before I take the first photograph.
We look at your outfits.
We talk about what you need the images for.
We make sure your hair and makeup or grooming is camera-ready.
We look at the light.
And most importantly, we talk.
I want to know how you want to be seen in your photographs, because that helps me create images that actually work for you.
The final photograph is only one part of the experience.

“What do I do with my hands?”
Possibly the most common question in a portrait studio.
The answer is: I’ll tell you.
Hands can make a portrait feel confident and relaxed — or suddenly make someone look uncomfortable.
Rather than giving everyone the same pose, I’ll use small movements: a hand in a pocket, adjusting a cuff or jacket, resting an arm, leaning slightly, holding glasses, or simply letting the hands fall naturally.
And sometimes the best solution for a headshot is not to have the hands in the frame at all.
You don’t need a list of poses.
You need direction that feels natural for you.

A good headshot shouldn’t feel like you’ve been told to “stand there and smile.”
Small movements, relaxed shoulders and a genuine expression can make such a difference.
And sometimes, the best photograph happens in between the poses.
That’s why I keep my clients moving and talking throughout a session.
The camera is there but I don’t want you thinking about it the whole time.
Your headshot is often the first thing people see when they discover your business. 📸 A professional, polished photo can help communicate confidence, approachability and credibility before you’ve even had the chance to introduce yourself. When your image looks professional but still feels like you, it helps people connect with the person behind the business — and that connection can lead to more conversations, stronger relationships and new opportunities. Your headshot isn’t just a photo; it’s part of how you show up for your business.

Your image is often the first introduction people have to your business. Make it count. ✨
A great headshot should feel confident, professional and authentic — giving people a glimpse of the person behind the brand.
Because when you feel good in your image, it shows in everything you do.
