John from Rooftop Bees on why Australia is still catching up when it comes to the hive 🐝
For thousands of years, humans have been using products from the hive - ingredients like honey, propolis and pollen have been cherished by numerous ancient civilisations…
But here in Australia, John makes the point that a lot of that knowledge still exists, it’s just spread across different cultures and communities.
A good example is bee bread - fermented pollen inside the hive with honey, and it’s apparently a very popular product in large parts of Europe. Meanwhile in Australia, most of us have probably never heard of it.
