It's time to redefine what it means to be a "life-giver" and start channelling that energy back into your own life. Discover a new way to live and create in this episode.

The abrupt "loss of spark" in a teenager can leave parents mourning the disappearance of their sweet, affectionate child, sparking a deep sense of grief and a lingering fear that this distant phase will last forever. It is deeply disconcerting to witness your teen judge your words, roll their eyes, or physically turn away the moment they have had enough of listening to you, especially after years of being their primary source of comfort.
This painful withdrawal is actually a necessary developmental step toward independence, not a rejection of your love. Even though their defensive exterior makes it feel like they are pushing you out of their life, this transition is precisely when they need your steady, non-judgmental presence the most.

I’m on a mission to find beautiful places to host my nature quests to connect with nature and find your answers within- and with my supportive husband, I think I’ve found a beauty.
Atypical of mid-adolescence (ages 14 to 17), this period is widely recognised as the hardest developmental phase because it requires teens to differentiate themselves as they navigate a radically shifting sense of identity. As they grapple with where they fit within their peer groups, how they fit into the family dynamic, and who they want to become, the sheer volume of emotional and cognitive change leaves even the teenagers themselves confused about what they are experiencing.
Rather than overwhelming them with heavy clinical explanations or rigid lectures, parents can support this phase best by delivering understanding in tiny, digestible pieces. Your primary role is to simply build a steady foundation of unconditional love and quiet availability, ensuring they know you are firmly there for them even when they seem completely unavailable or distant.

Courage often sounds like, “I’m willing to see what happens next.”

When communicating with a stressed teenager, asking accusatory questions like "What's wrong with you?" is guaranteed to trigger a defensive, inflammatory argument that pushes you both further apart. To de-escalate these moments and build genuine trust, parents must practice pausing, taking a deep breath, and reframing their language around completely owned "I" statements.
Instead of launching into an accusation like "You seem upset," soften your approach by using curious, non-threatening phrases like "I notice you seem a little quieter today; is there anything I can help with?" or "I'm wondering how your day went." By intentionally slowing down and starting with what you notice rather than what they are doing wrong, you create a safe, low-pressure invitation for your teen to open up.
I’m going to try this . It felt like a moving downward dog and plank in one. Don’t want to do 50 but I did 5 and my pelvic floor felt warmed up so good start
