A question we often get is "brand X's panel has blue - why don't yours?"
The short answer: Blue light has its place for niche antimicrobial applications (in particular it's been researched for acne), but it also disrupts sleep and can damage skin so it is not suitable for use within red light therapy panels.
That's why HeroMask Elite has an optional 415nm "Acne Hero" mode, but our panels don't.

Your camera sees flicker your eyes can’t. Here’s the 10-second test 👀
Take out your phone, hit record, and film your panel.
Your camera samples light in tiny slices while your eye blends it together - so flicker that’s invisible to you shows up as bands on screen.
In this video we’re inside an infrared sauna. The infrared coming from around the walls is legitimate - but the red light up the top is such a small dose it’s not going to really do anything, we don’t know what wavelength it is, and as you can see on the camera, it’s flickering.
Then we turn on the Hero960™. Near-infrared first, then red. No flicker.
Why this is worth 10 seconds of your time:
✅ Flicker you can’t consciously see has still been linked to headaches and eyestrain - one double-blind crossover study found both were more than halved under low-flicker lighting (Wilkins et al., 1989)
✅ If a driver switches the LEDs off for part of every cycle you’re getting less energy than the spec sheet suggests - a 50% duty cycle halves your dose in the same session
✅ Red light dose response is biphasic, not linear (Huang et al., 2009) - dropping under the effective threshold doesn’t give you a smaller result, it could give you no result
