Hello Community, We wanted to reintroduce ourselves in case we haven’t had the chance to meet yet. We’re Barbara and Jamie, co-owners of The Sanctuary Spa.
Now, before anyone gets confused, we’re definitely not the stars of the show. Our incredible staff and treatment providers are the real magic behind The Sanctuary Spa. But since we’re the two crazy women who started this adventure, we thought we’d tell you a little about ourselves.
Jamie and I met at a women’s retreat in the mountains of North Carolina. And when we say retreat, we mean RETREAT. Think eye gazing, bonfires, soul-searching, and more than a few women running around naked in the woods and howling at the moon 😆🤭
At the time, I had already spent over 20 years as an esthetician, and Jamie had more than 10 years under her belt as a massage therapist. So when the opportunity came up to open a spa in Belize, our response was something along the lines of, “Well, this seems like a perfectly reasonable life decision.”
Jamie was already living in Belize. My husband and I, on the other hand, sold everything we owned and moved here sight unseen. Because apparently we’re the kind of people who make major life decisions with equal parts passion and questionable levels of risk assessment.
But Thankfully, it worked out!
We’ve got some really fun things coming down the pipeline and we can’t wait to share! Think luxury retreats, hand-picked products we actually use ourselves, wellness experiences, and new ways to connect with like-minded people. Basically, we’re building the kind of things we’d want to attend, buy, and share with our friends.
