So after recording this I heard about "normalize normal bodies" by Mik Zazon (from actually watching an old try guys video) and I think it's so wonderful that I wasn't the only one to see this problem and come up with a motto to counter it.

Especially because I want to emphasize that shaming someone's hair *is* a form of body shaming. The key factor that defines what body shaming is isn't the specific feature targeted—it's the behavior. Body shaming is when someone is insulted, ridiculed, or made to feel ashamed because of a physical characteristic.

And all the as****es who think it's acceptable behavior to comment rude s**t about other people's appearances, online or in real life, can take a long walk down a short pier.

Your stylist should only ever have one objective: to bring your vision to life.

They should make suggestions that align with your goal and help you get closer to it—suggestions that work with your preferences, specifications, and long-term goals, not against them.

Yet all too often, stylists tell people that they shouldn't want what they want. They insist that what they want is better, and that you should change your mind and agree with them.

Bulls**t.

There is no wrong answer to the question, "How do you want your hair done?"

It's your body, and you get to choose how you present yourself to the world.

Don't tolerate anyone telling you to change your mind just to match their expectations, preferences, or beauty standards.

Choppy layers aren't actually choppy, they're just styled. (Or naturally wavy/curly)

And when they are straightened they should blend—whether your hair is curly, straight, fine, or thick.

Why? Because layers only need to be cut evenly to blend. That's all it takes. That's the big secret. It's nothing fancy or special, just basic haircutting skills.

They don't need any texturizing, thinning shears, or a razor to blend—those are cheat methods that stylists who aren't skilled enough to blend without them sometimes use.

That's why properly blended layers work with styles that aren't "straight with lines," and by that I mean they work with all styles.

That's also why you aren't being picky or asking for too much if you want a haircut that you can wear any way you want. So don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
