The word student comes from the Latin studere — to be eager, to strive toward, to devote oneself. It was never meant to describe a beginner. It describes a posture: open hands, open attention, a willingness to be shaped.

There's a quiet secret in this work — the moment someone steps forward to learn, they hand their teacher something rare. A student massage isn't a lesser session. It's an exchange. The student brings presence and hunger to understand the body; the practitioner, in offering guidance, is reminded why they fell in love with this work in the first place.

It has been long known by CLTs... radiation is the gift that keeps on giving. These images show truncal cording in a client who had breast cancer 4 years ago. Recently presenting... Years after treatment ended.

That's the part that catches people off guard. Tissue can seem fine... settled... for years. Then, without warning, it tightens. Pulls. Cords.

What you're seeing are fibrotic bands. Taut. Rope-like. Sitting just under the skin — sometimes felt before they're seen.

When you come in for bodywork — especially lymph work — there are so many things you can be sure of: your body, at some point, will decide to shift. No matter what, that fluid which carries all our history, emotions, and hormones is going to process it.

The same can be said for massage. We are powerful electromagnetic creatures, and our nervous system and muscles remember... the hurt, the trauma, the pain. The fascia and muscle, plus the nervous system — particularly the autonomic system — regulate fascial tension, meaning stress and physical restrictions can mutually reinforce each other.

So know that when you land on our tables, we hold that intentional understanding as manual therapists.

We also hold space for a laugh, tears, or quiet. It's all therapy.

Esthetics have run away from us.

Even we ran away from ourselves and for many people, what I have found in conversation is that they are seeking simple. Seeking touch, seeking connection, seeking a moment of clarity or release.
