Most of you have probably seen the video of a man who severely burned his skin after applying a TCA peel.
I have never been a fan of aggressive, uncontrolled treatments, even being experienced professional-regardless of the results they may promise. My approach has always been low and slow, slow and low. We will always achieve results; it may simply take more time and consistency. But results should never come at the cost of compromising the skin’s health.
Unfortunately, that type of damage is permanent. Even if the skin appears healed and normal, the trauma can resurface in the future, triggering either scarring, excess pigmentation or loss of pigment (hypopigmentation), especially in darker skin types.
🫶This client came to me after suffering a burn from a TCA peel performed elsewhere, which resulted in post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation ( first photo one year post burn). With the right professional skincare products I was able to achieve the improvement you see here.
However, it’s important to understand that skin trauma requires ongoing care. Once the skin has been damaged, it needs long-term attention and maintenance to keep it healthy and stable.
