🚎☀️BTS ep.6: The Roof ☀️🚎
This one was honestly one of my favourite parts of the whole transformation🤩
Bertha's roof had been looking tired for a long time. Years of weather, algea, moss and age had taken their toll, and no matter how much I scrubbed, that stubborn buildup just wouldn't come off. Eventually the old paint began dissolving away and the yellow underneath started peeking through.
So getting that roof crisp, clean and WHITE felt like Bertha's rebirth.
A fresh coat of paint probably shouldn't feel this emotional, but after everything that went into getting here, it really did feel like a fresh start😭🥹
Of course, it wasn't without its challenges😅 My camera kept overheating and shutting down, so I missed some of the process.
Apparently even documenting a project requires adapting to the limitations of your equipment!🫠
And honestly, that has become a recurring theme throughout this project:
I didn't capture everything.
I didn't do everything perfectly.
I didn't *really* know what I was doing.
🌟But I kept going🌟
And somewhere between all the sanding, scrubbing, taping, painting, redoing and figuring things out, Bertha started becoming something new🌱
So here's another little piece of the transformation💝

At the end of the month, I'll be co-hosting Rest & Receive with Lara from Ki to Kaizen Yoga
This is something we've been dreaming up for a while, and we're excited to pilot it as a potential monthly gathering depending on how YOU enjoy it🤞
Think of it as an evening to reset your energy and intentions for the month ahead, with gentle movement, card readings, journaling, a mini massage from yours truly, and a one-hour Yoga Nidra journey.

And behind the scenes, Bertha's makeover isn't quite finished yet😉 I'm slowly working on some interior upgrades too! Wall-mounted polish racks, a mirror wall and potentially some curtains that could allow me to expand what I can offer aboard the bus💆♂️
🐌It's all happening slowly🐌
But I've learned something through this whole process:
💧Every drop in the bucket gets you closer to the goal.
And right now, my bucket is getting pretty full. 💚
I'm also considering starting an actual email newsletter so I can share these little monthly updates, upcoming events, behind-the-scenes projects and Beauty Bus happenings with you directly.

💚 Back home and feeling so grateful💚
A huge thank you to the Gold River community for another wonderful visit💫

🖌 BTS Part 5: Trim and Fill 🖌
After a couple of rainy days, I had to find my rhythm again.
Some of the freshly sanded metal had developed a light layer of surface rust, so before I could move forward, it was back to the sander. Thankfully it cleaned up quickly, but it was another reminder that progress isn't always a straight line.
This stage also taught me something I never expected: paint works on its own schedule. Midday summer heat wasn't just uncomfortable, it actually caused the paint to bubble, meaning I had to sand it back and start over.
Every challenge seemed to ask for a new solution....or more sanding 😂
But after all that prep, the first bit of black trim finally went on!!!!
It wasn't the final colour or the big reveal. But it was the moment Bertha stopped feeling like a project and started feeling like she was becoming herself 🚎✨️
Making this dream happen, one small step at a time💚
🎭 BTS part 4: Masking 🎭
If you've ever taken on a big project, you'll know this feeling...
You're full of momentum!!!
Aaannnnd then something completely outside your control forces you to stop🫠
After sanding, washing, and spending hours carefully masking every window and detail, the rain rolled in🌧
Some of the work had to be redone, and I'll admit, it was frustrating. By this point, my body was exhausted, and all I wanted to do was start painting.
But looking back, I think this was one of the biggest lessons of the entire renovation💪
⭐️Not every pause is a setback⭐️
Sometimes it's a chance to rest, regroup, and come back with a little more patience than you had before🧘♀️
I've always loved the saying, "Proper prior planning prevents poor performance." This stage wasn't exciting, but it was essential. Just like so many things in life, the work that no one notices is often what makes everything else possible.
