Not every treatment looks the same.
Sometimes there are needles.
Sometimes cups.
Sometimes heat, movement, hands-on work or a combination of all of it.
I don’t really believe in forcing every patient into the same treatment.
What I use depends on what walks through the door that day: what hurts, what isn’t moving well, what has changed since the last appointment, and what I’m finding during treatment.
Cupping is simply one of the tools I get to pull from.
And admittedly, one of the prettier ones to photograph.

Where it hurts isn’t always where we treat.
Pain can change the way you move, load, guard and compensate.

Over time, those adaptations can become part of the problem themselves.
That’s why my treatments aren’t based solely on where does it hurt?
I’m looking at the bigger picture. Movement, restriction, tenderness, tissue response, history, and the patterns your body has developed around the pain.

The needles are only part of the treatment.
The assessment tells me where to begin.
Individual results vary. Treatment is based on individual assessment.

What do acupuncturists actually treat?
It’s one of the questions I’m asked most often.

While many people think of acupuncture for neck pain or back pain, I also commonly help patients with headaches and migraines, TMJ (jaw pain), stress, anxiety, sleep concerns, sports injuries, pregnancy support, fertility support, and women’s health.

Every treatment begins with a conversation because no two people experience symptoms in exactly the same way. My goal is to understand what you’re experiencing and create a treatment plan that’s tailored specifically to you.

If you’re wondering whether acupuncture may be a good fit for something you’re dealing with, feel free to send me a message. I’m always happy to answer questions.

We've become so accustomed to being busy that stillness can feel unfamiliar.

But rest isn't something we earn.

It's something we need.

Minerva Talks: Why Rest Feels So Uncomfortable

Healing isn’t linear.

Some days feel easier than others.

There are moments of progress, moments of frustration, and moments where it feels like nothing is changing at all.

Recovery often asks for patience.

To keep showing up.
To keep moving.
To trust the process a little longer.

Sometimes the most meaningful changes are happening beneath the surface long before we can see them.

I’ve been wanting to create something a little different.

Not educational posts.
Not treatment advice.
Not before and afters.

Just a collection of observations, stories, and moments gathered from life inside a clinic.

Your body is always communicating with you.

Sometimes stress doesn’t feel like anxiety.

Sometimes it looks like:
• waking up exhausted
• tight shoulders and jaw
• a racing mind
• digestive changes
• feeling tired but unable to relax

When stress becomes chronic, the nervous system can get stuck in a constant state of alertness.

The good news?

Your body can learn safety again.

Acupuncture can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress responses, improve sleep, ease muscle tension, and create space for your body to shift out of survival mode.

Have you noticed any of these signs lately?

Pain changes more than tissues.
It changes behaviour, movement, and nervous system regulation.
Healing is often quieter than people expect.
