One of the biggest mistakes I see is
Treating the fold without addressing
the support around it.

As we age, we gradually lose volume and structural support throughout the face.
Rather than simply filling a fold, I often look at the facial framework as a whole.

Botox has evolved — and so has the way we treat the face.
Years ago, the goal was often simple: freeze the wrinkle.
But we’ve learned that treating muscles without respecting facial balance can create unintended changes.

Overtreating the frontalis can lead to heavy brows or the classic “Spock” brow. Today, we approach the forehead more strategically — softening lines while preserving natural brow support.

Crow’s feet treatment also requires precision.
The orbicularis oculi plays an important role in lymphatic drainage around the eyes. When over-relaxed, some patients may experience under-eye puffiness. Treating the lower cheek lines too aggressively may also affect cheek support and contribute to cheek descent or a shelf-like appearance.

The lower face has evolved as well. While masseter slimming has been popular, in some patients it can enhance the appearance of jowls. Addressing the DAO and platysma can help reduce downward pull and improve jawline definition.

The chin is another area where thoughtful toxin treatment can make a difference. Relaxing the mentalis can smooth dimpling and soften the orange-peel texture that develops with age.

When I refer to Botox, I’m referring to FDA-approved neuromodulators used for aesthetic treatments.

When appropriately dosed, results can typically last around 4–6 months. However, the ideal dosage varies from person to person depending on individual muscle strength, movement, and the depth of existing wrinkles.
More importantly…

Constant “top-ups” every couple of months may not always be the best approach.

Appropriate dosing and proper treatment intervals can:
✅ Provide more consistent and predictable results
✅ Reduce the need for frequent corrections
✅ Potentially help minimize the risk of developing resistance over time

Repeated underdosing followed by frequent touch-ups may contribute to resistance concerns over time.
