Gel can feel hot during curing.

This is called an exothermic reaction:

- When gel cures under the UV/LED lamp, the molecules react and release heat.
- Thicker layers create more heat because more gel is curing at once.
- A strong/faster lamp can make the heat spike feel stronger.
Thin or damaged nails can feel the heat more easily.
- Putting too much gel on at once can cause a stronger “heat spike.”

How to reduce the heat:
- Apply thin layers rather than one thick layer.
- Use the handheld lamp first to reduce the heat.
- If the client feels a sudden burning sensation, remove the hand from the lamp for a few seconds, let it cool, then continue.
- Avoid curing an excessively thick amount of gel all at once.
