Things you should know before your appointment 👇

Want the best possible results for your permanent makeup? They don't just start when you walk through the door. They start with knowing what to do well before your appointment.

A little planning will help the process feel smoother, keep the space calm, & give your brows, lips, or eyeliner the best chance to heal beautifully.

➡️ Bring photo examples if you have an ideal shape or colour in mind & we’ll customize from there.

➡️ Planning a beach vacation? Book your trip at least 14 days after your appointment, or schedule your permanent makeup once you’re back.

➡️ Avoid alcohol the night before and day of your appointment & keep caffeine to a minimum.

➡️ Avoid blood-thinning medications or supplements for at least 48 hours before your appointment when safe to do so. This can include Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil & Ibuprofen. If it’s prescribed by your doctor, please check with them first.

➡️ Retinol & products containing retinol should be stopped at least 1 month before your procedure.

➡️ Please come solo. No guests or children at your appointment. This time is for you, & I want the space to feel calm, focused, and comfortable.

➡️ Did something pop up & you need to change your appointment? Please reach out to me directly with at least 72 hours' notice or more if something comes up. Please also arrive on time so that we have enough time for your session; otherwise, deposits are non-refundable.

I know life happens & I’ll do my best to accommodate unexpected changes when you let me know as early as possible. I want your permanent makeup to look its very best & knowing what to expect helps!

😂 The shaking might look a little questionable from behind… but I promise, there’s a reason we shake those pigment bottles!

Choosing your permanent makeup pigment is about so much more than grabbing a colour that looks close. Skin tone, undertone, natural hair colour, the area we’re working on, the depth of colour you want and... most importantly... how that pigment is expected to HEAL in your skin all matter.

Here’s something you may not realize. The colour you see in the bottle or even immediately after your appointment is not necessarily the colour you’ll ultimately be wearing. Fresh PMU typically appears stronger and darker before softening as the skin heals. Your skin itself also acts like a filter over the implanted pigment, which is why undertone can influence whether a colour heals warmer, cooler, or more neutral.

🎨 And sometimes your perfect colour doesn’t even exist in one bottle.

An experienced artist can custom mix pigments, adjusting the warmth, coolness, depth or intensity to create a shade specifically for YOU. Colour theory plays a huge role here.

That’s why I’m always thinking beyond what your brows, lip blush, or permanent eyeliner look like when you leave my studio. I’m choosing and mixing your pigment based on what I expect it to look like once it’s implanted, healed, and settled into YOUR skin.

But what is actually happening while you’re relaxing in the chair?

We start with a little paperwork, followed by a consultation where we discuss the look you’re after and which techniques will work best for your skin type, features and lifestyle.

Next, we carefully map out your permanent makeup and select your shades. Nothing begins until you’re completely happy with the shape, colour and overall plan.

Once we’ve nailed down the details, it’s time to relax while the numbing cream does its work. My goal is to make you as comfortable as possible throughout your appointment.

Before you leave, you’ll receive an aftercare kit and instructions to support optimal healing while you get used to your new look at home.

And when the Combo Brows turn out this good, can you blame me?!

Combo Brows are one of my favourite options because they give you a little bit of everything. We combine fine, natural-looking hair strokes with soft shading to create brows that have both dimension AND definition.

They can be a great choice if you:

✨ Have sparse or uneven areas that need a little extra fullness
✨ Love the look of hair strokes but want more definition than Nano Brows alone
✨ Normally fill in parts of your brows with makeup
✨ Want a more polished, defined result without your brows looking overly heavy
✨ Want to add shape and structure while still keeping some of that natural, hair-like detail

And that’s the beauty of permanent makeup—it isn’t about giving everyone the exact same brows. Your natural hair, skin, face shape, lifestyle and how you normally like to wear your brows all help determine which technique will give YOU the best result.

😂 Nice try with the disguise... but I KNOW those brows.

I get it. You loved how dark and defined your brows looked when they were freshly done, and as they soften over time, you may find yourself wanting that darker look back.

🤔 But wanting them darker doesn’t necessarily mean your skin is ready for a refresh.

Immediately after your appointment, your brows are intentionally darker because we know two things will happen: the pigment will settle as they heal AND gradually fade over time.

✨ Permanent makeup is designed to make your life easier, but for some people, low maintenance doesn’t mean no maintenance.

If you prefer a darker brow, there may be a period where you’ll need to lightly shade them in yourself while you wait for your permanent makeup to fade enough for more pigment.

And that part is IMPORTANT. 👇

I generally need to see around 50% fading before refreshing your brows. If there isn’t enough fading, there simply isn’t enough room in the skin to safely add more pigment.

Adding pigment too soon can eventually leave you with oversaturated, solid-looking brows... AKA the dreaded Sharpie brow. 😬 And we definitely don’t want that!

So rather than deciding it’s time based on how many months or years it’s been, let your brows tell us when they’re ready.

Before booking a refresh, send me a clear photo or schedule a consultation so I can take a look. That way, we can make sure they’re ready BEFORE you’re counting on having them refreshed at your appointment.
