For the past 3-4 years of owning Modern Aesthetics, I’ve taken on one pro bono case each month. Sometimes that’s been an adolescent struggling with severe acne, an adult healing from long term effects of facial trauma, or a patient experiencing facial asymmetry after a stroke or Bell’s Palsy. More recently, my focus has been children living with alopecia.

You won’t find photos of these patients on my Instagram that was never the intention. These cases were about the special bond with each patient and their family. But what I can share is how much these kids have inspired me.

Recently, I began using plant-based stem cells for children with alopecia, most often Alopecia Areata and Telogen Effluvium. The results have been amazing . At first, I only shared these outcomes with the incredible company that distributes it. But soon, I was asked to speak on my anecdotal findings first in Calgary, then Orlando, and most recently in Denver.

At first I hesitated. Recognition was never the goal. But these patients’ stories deserved to be told. Their resilience amazed me not because of bullying or social struggle (they didn’t care what anyone thought), but because of the confidence they carried. And when their hair began to grow back, that confidence soared even higher. Hearing them laugh about experiencing things like “bed head” for the first time.

This past weekend in Denver, I was deeply honored to receive an award for the transformations achieved with this product. I am profoundly grateful:
• To the company I get to work with.
• To the patients and families who trusted me.
• And to the impact they have made on me just as much as I may have made on them.

While I haven’t asked for permission to post most of these transformations, (although I’m sure the would be ok with it)
I will be sharing a before and after photo of the very first young girl I treated. She was the one who inspired me to help many more.

This work has been one of the most meaningful parts of my career, and I’m humbled to share even a small part of it with you.

One of the most fascinating aspects of our field is its constant evolution.

We once celebrated the use of PRP extracting Platelet Rich Plasma after centrifugation and re-injecting it to stimulate skin rejuvenation. However, PRP lacked one crucial element: volume.

Through research and innovation, we’ve advanced further. By heating plasma to 100°C for 10 minutes and then cooling it, the viscosity changes, allowing it to function similarly to a dermal filler. This technique not only rejuvenates but also restores lost volume, creating more complete and natural outcomes.

I have incorporated this approach into my own practice and I’ve also had the privilege of teaching it here in Canada through hands-on courses, through Salient Medical and in the U.S for where I proctor classes and lecture (no hands on in the USA)

This represents the exciting intersection of science, technique, and patient care and it’s only the beginning of what’s possible in regenerative aesthetics.

If you look back on my page we treated this patient about 1 year ago, and she came back for a touch up which has only enhanced her results further !

The difference 1 syringe vs 2 syringes makes.

We did 0.5ml of a syringe with a bolus technique upon her first treatment.

2 months later an added another syringe with a needle using bolus technique with the addition of 0.5ml laterally with a cannula to soften the transition from her pre-Jowl to her mental region. This technique enhances the ability to feminize this the medial aspect of her face and keeping it looking natural !
