Tight calves don’t just affect your lower legs.

They can contribute to discomfort throughout your body, including your:
• Feet and arches
• Achilles tendon
• Knees
• Hips
• Lower back

You may notice:
• Pain or stiffness when walking
• Cramping during the day or at night
• Difficulty squatting or climbing stairs
• Tightness after running, hiking, or standing for long periods
• Reduced ankle mobility

Tight calves can develop from prolonged standing, repetitive activity, exercise, wearing certain types of footwear, or simply spending long hours sitting throughout the day.

Massage therapy can help by:
• Releasing muscle tension and trigger points
• Improving flexibility and ankle mobility
• Increasing circulation to the muscles
• Reducing strain on surrounding joints and tissues
• Supporting faster recovery after work or exercise

Your calves play an important role in how you move every day. Keeping them healthy and mobile can make a noticeable difference in your comfort, balance, and overall movement.

If your neck feels stiff, your shoulders are constantly tight, and your upper back always seems to need attention, you’re not alone.

One of the most common things I see is postural overload.

It happens when the muscles of the upper body are working harder than they should for hours at a time.

Long days at a desk.
Looking down at a phone.
Driving.
Stress.
Even poor sleep positions.

Over time, this can create a pattern of tension through the:

• Neck
• Upper traps
• Shoulders
• Chest
• Upper back
• Jaw

The result?

You feel tight, restricted, and uncomfortable—even when you’re trying to relax.

The good news is that these patterns can be addressed.

Massage therapy can help reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, restore balance to overworked muscles, and help your body move more comfortably again.

If your upper body constantly feels like it’s carrying the weight of the world, it may be time to give it some attention.

One of the most common things I hear from patients is:

“I wish I had come in sooner.”

The reality is that most injuries don’t happen overnight.

Before the injury, there are often warning signs:

• Persistent tightness that never fully goes away
• Stiffness when you wake up in the morning
• A nagging ache you’ve learned to ignore
• Reduced mobility or flexibility
• Muscles that constantly feel overworked
• Areas that always seem to tighten back up

Your body is incredibly good at adapting.

The problem is that when you continue to push through discomfort, your body starts compensating.

One tight muscle leads to another.

One restricted joint affects how you move everywhere else.

Over time, these small issues can become larger problems that are much harder to recover from.

Massage therapy isn’t just for when you’re in pain.

It’s also one of the best ways to stay ahead of pain.

Regular treatment can help:

• Reduce accumulated tension
• Improve mobility and movement quality
• Support recovery from daily stress and activity
• Identify problem areas before they become injuries
• Keep your body functioning at its best

You don’t wait for your vehicle to break down before getting it serviced.

Your body deserves the same attention.

Taking care of small problems today can help prevent bigger problems tomorrow.

Your body wasn’t designed to operate under constant stress without recovery.

Just like your phone needs to be recharged, your body needs time and support to recover from the physical effects of everyday life.

Massage therapy isn’t just about relaxation.

It’s about helping your nervous system settle, reducing accumulated tension, improving recovery, and giving your body the opportunity to reset.

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely burned out to start taking care of yourself.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is schedule in some relaxing or therapeutic massage therapy. Booking link below.

Relaxation vs. Therapeutic Massage — Which one is right for you? 🌿

Both types of massage offer incredible benefits, but they serve slightly different purposes depending on what your body needs.

✨ Relaxation Massage
Designed to calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and ease overall tension. This gentle, flowing style encourages circulation and promotes a deep sense of peace — perfect if you’re feeling mentally or physically drained and need to reset.

💪 Therapeutic Massage
Focuses on specific areas of discomfort or restriction. Techniques such as deep tissue and trigger point release help address chronic pain, muscle tightness, or injury recovery. It’s ideal for improving mobility, posture, and long-term function.

Whether you’re looking to unwind or work through tension, your treatment will always be customized to your goals and comfort level.

A lot of people don’t realize their body has been stuck in a protective pattern until everything starts feeling tight, stiff, or reactive.

This is what we call “guarding.”
It’s when muscles stay contracted to protect an area the body perceives as stressed, overloaded, or vulnerable.

It can happen after:
• Chronic stress
• Old injuries
• Poor posture over time
• Repetitive strain
• Overtraining or lack of recovery
• Long periods of tension without release

This pattern often shows up as:
• A neck that constantly feels tight
• Traps that won’t relax
• A low back that keeps “grabbing”
• Jaw clenching
• Stiff hips and shoulders
• Feeling tense even when you’re trying to relax

The problem is, once the body gets used to guarding, that tension becomes the new normal.

Muscles stay overactive.
Movement becomes restricted.
The nervous system stays on high alert.

Over time, this creates more compensation, more stiffness, and more discomfort throughout the body.

This is why treatment isn’t just about “working out knots.”

The goal is to help the body feel safe enough to stop protecting itself unnecessarily.

With the right treatment approach, we can:
• Reduce excessive muscle tension
• Improve mobility and circulation
• Calm the nervous system
• Restore more natural movement patterns
• Help the body shift out of constant guarding mode

Most people don’t realize how much tension they’ve been carrying until their body finally starts letting it go.

👋 Meet Your RMT

My name’s Evan! I became a Registered Massage Therapist because I genuinely believe that understanding your body is the first step to feeling better in it — and I built my practice around that.

Every session I do is tailored. I take time to understand not just where something hurts, but why — and I’ll always explain what I’m finding and what I’m doing about it. My approach is clinical and methodical, but clients tell me they feel at ease pretty quickly, and that matters to me.

Good therapeutic work requires trust.

I work with people managing chronic tension, recovering from injury, staying on top of an active lifestyle, and everything in between.

👍 Direct billing available for most extended health plans.

📍I’m located at Suite 300, 22420 Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge — right next to Trevor Linden Fitness.

If you have questions before booking, feel free to reach out. Otherwise, I’d love to see you in the treatment room.

That stubborn spot between your shoulder blades isn’t just a tight muscle. It’s usually a trigger point — a small, hyperirritable area where muscle fibres have seized up and stopped functioning normally.

Trigger points form in response to overuse, poor posture, stress, or injury. They restrict blood flow to surrounding tissue, which means the muscle can’t get the oxygen it needs to recover on its own. That’s why they linger for weeks without treatment.

What makes them particularly interesting is that they refer pain to other areas. A trigger point in your neck can cause headaches. One in your hip can mimic sciatica. One between your shoulder blades can send tension all the way down your arm. Treating the source — not just where it hurts — is what actually resolves it.

If you have a spot that keeps coming back no matter what you do, Trigger Point Therapy combined with Myofascial Release is likely what your body is asking for.

Trigger Point Therapy · Myofascial Release · Deep Tissue Massage - book in for a Therapeutic 45, 60, or 90min massage.
