📆Aesthetic consent shouldn’t only be about what happens in the next few months. It should include a conversation about your long-term aesthetic goals including whether a facelift may eventually be part of your plan.
PLLA (Sculptra) stimulates collagen and has an established role in facial rejuvenation. However, published medical literature also documents complications including nodules, delayed inflammatory reactions, foreign-body granulomas and, in some cases, localized fibrotic changes.
These documented complications do not mean everyone receiving Sculptra will experience abnormal tissue changes.
Importantly, we do not currently have enough evidence to determine how uncomplicated Sculptra treatments or repeated treatments over time may impact the tissues encountered during a future facelift.
📚The evidence simply isn’t strong enough to make definitive claims either way.
🧐That uncertainty is worth discussing as part of informed consent, particularly if surgical facial rejuvenation may be part of your long-term plan.
