What is IPL?

Also known as “Photo-rejuvenation”, or a “Photo-facial”

which is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum light pulses to improve your skin's colour and texture without surgery.

Unlike standard lasers that use a single light wavelength, IPL releases a scattered rainbow of light wavelengths.

Targeted Heat: The light penetrates the second layer of skin (dermis) without harming the top layer of the skin.

Cell Destruction: Pigment cells and blood vessels absorb the light energy, turn it into heat, and break apart the unwanted spots, hair follicles and spider veins.

What IPL Treats:

Sun damage, age spots, and freckles

Facial redness, rosacea, and broken blood vessels

Mild to moderate acne bacteria

Unwanted body hair

Recovery:

Treated spots temporarily darken and flake off over two to five days, but can take 7-14 days to fully process.

Best done in the fall/winter months.

Must stay out of the sun before during and after duration of treatments.

May experience “sun burn” like sensation.

What are the benefits of IPL?

✨ Benefits of IPL

Reduces unwanted pigmentation and helps fade sun spots, age spots and uneven pigmentation.

Improves skin tone, creating a more even, brighter-looking complexion.

Reduces redness that can help diminish the appearance of certain types of facial redness and visible small blood vessels.

Stimulates collagen! Light energy can trigger collagen remodeling, helping skin look firmer and smoother over time.

Improves the appearance of fine lines. Collagen stimulation may soften the look of fine lines.

Helps with sun damage, targets visible signs of cumulative UV exposure.

Can reduce the appearance of freckles, pigment can become lighter with a series of treatments.

Minimal downtime. Many clients can return to normal activities shortly after treatment, depending on the treatment settings and individual skin response.

Gradual improvement. Results typically develop over a series of treatments rather than from one session.

Can be used for multiple concerns. IPL targets pigmentation, redness, vascular concerns and overall skin rejuvenation.

Important: IPL is not a laser; it uses a broad spectrum of light. Results and suitability depend heavily on skin type, pigmentation, medications, recent sun exposure and the specific IPL device/settings.

Good bye summer 2026. You were a hard one, not only hard but lonely, rough around the edges, and hurtful. Don't let the images fool you. I'm forever grateful for the experiences I've worked hard for to achieve but being the first summer without my other half was not easy.
