🀍 Your hair is probably more predictable than you think.

It might feel like your hair has a mind of its own sometimes.

But if you pay attention, you'll probably notice that it actually has a pretty reliable routine.

It has a favorite place to part.

A direction it naturally wants to grow.

A cowlick that has been fighting you since approximately the beginning of time. πŸ˜‚

There are areas that get oily faster than others.

Spots that dry quickly.

Spots that take forever to dry.

Sections that hold a curl beautifully.

And that one stubborn piece that refuses to cooperate no matter what you do.

Sound familiar?

Here's the thing...

Your hair isn't necessarily being difficult.

It's following its natural patterns.

Once you start noticing those patterns, styling can become so much easier.

Instead of fighting the part your hair naturally wants to take, work with it.

Instead of wondering why one side always falls differently, recognize that your hair may simply grow in a different direction there.

Instead of applying the same amount of product everywhere, pay attention to the areas that actually need it.

And if one section refuses to hold a curl?

Maybe it needs a little more preparation, a different technique, or simply a different expectation. πŸ˜‰

This is one of the things I look for when I'm working with someone's hair.

I'm not just looking at the length or texture.

I'm watching how it moves.

Where it falls.

How it grows.

Where it has volume.

Where it doesn't.

What it naturally wants to do.

Because your hair has been giving you information all along.

You just have to learn how to read it.

And once you understand those patterns, something really interesting happens.

Your hair starts feeling less complicated.

You spend less time fighting it.

You can work with it instead of against it.

And suddenly that hairstyle you've been struggling with becomes much easier.

So the next time your hair does something predictable, don't just get frustrated.

Pay attention.

Your hair might be trying to teach you something. 🀍

What's the most predictable thing your hair does?

That one piece that always goes the wrong way?

The same stubborn cowlick?

A favorite part?

Tell me yours. πŸ‘‡

πŸ“š People tell me all the time that I should write a book.

Honestly... I probably could. πŸ˜„

After years behind the chair, I've heard stories that have made me laugh until my stomach hurt, brought tears to my eyes, and reminded me just how interesting people really are.

The salon is a unique place.

People share the funniest stories, exciting news, life updates, family adventures, career changes, and sometimes the moments that have completely turned their world upside down.

This week, one client had me in absolute stitches telling me about her new job. She was describing all the unexpected things she'd seen so far, and then admitted she was actually hoping even more weird and gross things would happen because every day was becoming another great story to tell! πŸ˜‚

Needless to say, we laughed our way through the appointment.

Moments like that are one of my favorite parts of this job.

But here's the thing...

As much as people tell me I should write a book...

I never could.

Not because I don't have enough stories.

Because I'm a really good secret keeper.

What's shared in my chair stays in my chair.

That's part of the trust between a hairstylist and their clients.

You can celebrate, vent, laugh, cry, or simply chat about your day, knowing you're in a safe space.

It's one of the things I value most about my career.

I get to know people beyond their hair.

I get to celebrate life's milestones, cheer people on through new beginnings, and sometimes just be there to listen.

It's a privilege I never take for granted.

So no... there probably won't be a tell all salon book anytime soon. πŸ˜‰

But I will always be grateful for the conversations, the laughter, and the wonderful people who make every day behind the chair different from the last.

And if you ever hear me laughing from across the salon...

There's probably another great story being told. 🀍

❓ Question Day! ❓

Let's have some fun today.

If you've ever sat in a salon chair and thought...

"I've always wondered..."

This is your chance to ask.

No question is too simple.

No question is too silly.

In fact, some of the questions people are almost embarrassed to ask are often the ones that help them understand their hair the most.

Maybe you've wondered...

✨ How often should I really wash my hair?

✨ Why does my hair get frizzy the second I step outside?

✨ What's the difference between dry hair and damaged hair?

✨ Why won't my hair hold a curl?

✨ How often should I get a haircut?

✨ Do I really need salon products?

✨ Is air drying better than blow drying?

✨ Why does my hair behave differently than it did a few years ago?

✨ Why does one side of my hair always look better than the other?

✨ Is gray hair actually a different texture?

These are all questions I hear in the salon, and I love answering them.

Because the more you understand your hair, the easier it becomes to care for it.

You don't need to know hairstylist terminology.

You don't need to worry about asking the "right" question.

You just need to be curious.

One of my favorite parts of being a hairstylist isn't just cutting or coloring hair.

It's helping people understand why their hair behaves the way it does.

When you understand your hair, you stop fighting it.

You make better choices.

You spend less time feeling frustrated.

And you start enjoying your hair a whole lot more.

So today, nothing is off limits.

If you've always wanted to ask a hairstylist something...

Now's your chance. 🀍

Drop your question in the comments.

I'll do my best to answer as many as I can, and chances are if you've been wondering about it, someone else has too!

Let's talk hair! πŸ‘‡

08/05/2026

🀍 Your hair is talking.

Are you listening?

Your hair is constantly giving you clues about what it needs.

Sometimes it's subtle.

Sometimes it's impossible to ignore.

Dry, rough ends?

Your hair might be asking for more hydration, a trim, or a little more protection from the things that cause damage.

Feeling like your haircut has lost its shape?

Your hair might be telling you it's time for a refresh.

Taking longer and longer to style?

Your routine might need a change.

Hair not holding a curl like it used to?

It might need a different approach.

Feeling brittle or stressed?

It might be time to look at how much heat, chemical processing, or environmental stress your hair is experiencing.

Hair doesn't always need more products.

Sometimes it needs less.

Less heat.

Less tension.

Less fighting against what it naturally wants to do.

Sometimes it needs more.

More moisture.

More patience.

More regular trims.

More understanding.

One of my favorite parts of being a hairstylist is helping people decode those messages.

Because your hair isn't trying to be difficult.

It's communicating.

The frizz.

The dryness.

The lack of volume.

The way it falls differently than it used to.

Those aren't failures.

They're information.

Your hair is telling you what it needs.

The trick is learning how to listen.

And that's where a good consultation comes in.

Before we decide what to cut, color, or change, we have to understand what's happening.

How does your hair behave at home?

What frustrates you?

What do you love about it?

What do you wish was easier?

The goal isn't to force your hair into something it doesn't want to be.

The goal is to create a relationship with your hair where you understand each other a little better.

So take a moment and check in...

What is your hair trying to tell you right now?

✨ Dry ends?
✨ Needs reshaping?
✨ Needs less heat?
✨ Needs more moisture?
✨ Needs a new routine?

Tell me in the comments. Let's decode it together. 🀍

08/04/2026

πŸ‘€ Three things I notice before I even touch your hair.

Here's a little behind the chair secret...

The consultation starts long before I pick up my comb.

By the time you sit down, I'm already paying attention to the little details that help me create a haircut you'll actually enjoy living with.

Here are three of them.

✨ How you're wearing your hair when you arrive.

Is it in a ponytail?

A claw clip?

Tucked behind your ears?

Worn completely down?

Believe it or not, this tells me a lot about your everyday routine. If your hair is always clipped up, I want to know why. Is it getting in your way? Is it too heavy? Is it just the easiest option? Those clues help guide our conversation.

✨ How you naturally interact with your hair.

Do you keep brushing it away from your face?

Are you constantly tucking one side behind your ear?

Do you avoid touching it altogether?

Most people do these things without even realizing it, and they're often the biggest hints about what is and isn't working.

✨ How you talk about your hair.

The words you choose matter.

If you say, "My hair is impossible," I know you've probably been frustrated for a while.

If you say, "I just want something easy," I'll ask what easy means to you.

If you say, "I don't know what I want anymore," that's okay too. We'll figure it out together.

Your answers help me understand your goals just as much as your hair itself.

The truth is, a great haircut isn't created by scissors alone.

It's created by listening.

By observing.

By asking questions.

By understanding not just your hair, but your lifestyle.

Because the best haircut isn't the one that looks amazing for an hour.

It's the one that still works when you're getting ready on a busy Tuesday morning.

That's the fun part of my job.

It's a little bit of creativity.

A little bit of problem solving.

And a whole lot of paying attention to the details most people never notice.

Now I'm curious...

What's the first thing you usually tell your hairstylist when you sit in the chair? πŸ€πŸ‘‡

08/03/2026

🀍 Confidence looks different for everyone.

When people think about confidence, they often picture someone walking into a room with perfect hair, the perfect outfit, and a big smile.

But after years behind the chair, I've learned that confidence is usually much quieter than that.

Sometimes confidence is trying a brand new haircut you've been thinking about for years.

Sometimes it's embracing your natural gray instead of coloring it.

Sometimes it's finally wearing your curls the way they naturally want to be.

And sometimes...

Confidence is simply leaving the house without worrying about your hair.

That might not sound like a big deal.

But if you've ever spent your morning fighting with your hair...

Checked your reflection every time you passed a mirror...

Wondered if it was falling flat...

Or worried that everyone else noticed your bad hair day...

You know how much energy that can take.

Imagine getting that energy back.

Imagine looking in the mirror before you leave, smiling, and then not thinking about your hair again until bedtime.

That's confidence too.

Not because your hair is perfect.

Because it's no longer stealing your attention.

One of my goals as a hairstylist isn't to create hair that only looks amazing when you leave the salon.

It's to create hair that fits your life.

Hair that works with your routine.

Hair that behaves well enough that you stop thinking about it every hour.

Hair that lets you focus on your family, your friends, your work, your hobbies, and all the moments that really matter.

Because confidence doesn't have to be loud.

It doesn't have to be dramatic.

It doesn't have to come from compliments or social media likes.

Sometimes confidence is wonderfully ordinary.

It's throwing your hair into place and heading out the door.

It's feeling comfortable in your own skin.

It's trusting that your hair is working with you instead of against you.

It's spending your day making memories instead of making adjustments.

If that's what confidence looks like for you, I'd say you're doing just fine.

Because the best kind of confidence isn't about impressing everyone else.

It's about feeling at home in yourself.

And if a haircut can help you get there, that's one of the greatest privileges of my job. 🀍

Tell me...

What does confidence look like to you? πŸ‘‡

β˜€οΈ What has your hair taught you this summer?

One of the things I love about changing seasons is that they teach us something new about our hair.

Summer has a way of revealing what works... and what doesn't.

Maybe you discovered your hair actually loves air drying.

Maybe you found yourself reaching for your blow dryer less often and realized your natural texture isn't something to fight.

Maybe you learned that your hair needs a little more moisture after days spent in the sun.

Or maybe all those afternoons by the pool made you realize your hair was asking for a little extra care.

Perhaps you discovered that less heat styling made your hair feel healthier.

Maybe you found your new favorite claw clip hairstyle.

Or maybe you realized your haircut just isn't working the way it used to.

And that's okay too.

Hair changes.

The weather changes.

Our routines change.

What worked for you in January might not be what works in July.

That's why I always encourage my clients to pay attention to their hair instead of fighting against it.

Your hair is constantly giving you clues.

Is it feeling dry?

Is it taking forever to style?

Does it seem healthier when you use less heat?

Is it easier to manage when it's a little shorter?

Does it behave better with a little more hydration?

None of those are failures.

They're feedback.

The more you understand your hair, the easier it becomes to care for it.

That's one of my favorite parts of being a hairstylist.

Helping people stop battling their hair and start working with it.

Because when you understand what your hair needs, getting ready becomes easier, your routine becomes simpler, and your hair starts working for you instead of against you.

So before we say goodbye to summer, I'd love to know...

🌿 What has your hair taught you this summer?

Did you discover...

✨ Your hair loves air drying?
✨ It needs less heat?
✨ It needs more moisture?
✨ It needs a better haircut?
✨ Or did it teach you something completely unexpected?

Share your answer in the comments. Your experience might be exactly the tip someone else needs to hear. 🀍

β˜€οΈ Goodbye, July. Hello, August! πŸ‚

It's hard to believe we're already turning the page on another month.

July brought plenty of sunshine, warm days, patio evenings, road trips, camping weekends, and a whole lot of real life. Along the way, our hair probably had a few adventures too.

Maybe you discovered that air drying isn't so bad.

Maybe you finally embraced your natural waves.

Maybe you learned that a hat is your best friend on a windy day.

Maybe you realized your hair needs a little more hydration after time in the sun.

Or maybe you found a hairstyle that actually survived the heat and humidity.

I love how every season teaches us something about our hair.

Summer reminds us that hair doesn't have to be perfect.

It reminds us that a little movement is okay.

That a claw clip can be a lifesaver.

That healthy hair is happier hair.

And that sometimes the best hair days happen when we're too busy making memories to think about our hair at all.

As we head into August, it's the perfect time to reflect.

Not on what your hair didn't do...

But on what you learned.

Maybe you learned that your hair likes less heat.

Maybe you realized you don't need as many products as you thought.

Maybe you found a haircut that made getting ready easier.

Maybe you finally stopped chasing someone else's hair and started appreciating your own.

Every season is a chance to learn something new.

As your hairstylist, that's one of my favorite parts of this job. Hair is always changing, just like we are. The more we understand it, the easier it becomes to work with instead of against it.

So here's my question for you...

What's the best hair lesson you learned this summer? β˜€οΈπŸ‘‡

I'd love to hear your answers, and who knows, your tip might help someone else have their best hair day yet.

Here's to fresh starts, healthy hair, and everything August has in store. 🀍

07/30/2026

🀍 What confidence looks like from behind the chair.

It isn't perfect hair.

Really.

After all these years behind the chair, I've realized confidence has very little to do with every strand being perfectly in place.

Confidence shows up in much quieter ways.

It's the relaxed shoulders.

The deep breath someone takes when they finally see themselves in the mirror.

The smile that slowly grows across their face before they even say a word.

It's the person who can't stop running their hands through their hair because it finally feels the way they hoped it would.

It's watching someone sit a little taller.

Hearing them laugh a little more.

Seeing them leave the salon without immediately pulling their hair into a ponytail.

Those are the moments I notice.

Those are the moments that remind me why I love what I do.

People often think hairstylists are in the business of cutting hair.

We're not.

We're in the business of helping people feel like themselves.

Sometimes that means a dramatic transformation.

Sometimes it means taking off half an inch.

Sometimes it means covering gray.

Sometimes it means embracing it.

Sometimes it means simply listening while someone shares what's been happening in their life.

Hair is personal.

It carries memories, milestones, and moments.

It changes with us through new jobs, new relationships, retirement, becoming parents, becoming grandparents, and everything in between.

So when someone trusts me with their hair, I know they're trusting me with something much bigger than a haircut.

They're trusting me with how they feel when they walk out the door.

And that's something I never take lightly.

One of my favorite moments is when a client stands up, catches their reflection from a different angle, and instinctively reaches up to touch their hair.

Not because they're checking if it's okay.

Because they're enjoying it.

They're feeling the softness.

They're noticing the movement.

They're thinking, "This feels like me."

That little gesture says more than words ever could.

It's not about creating perfect hair.

It's about creating hair that fits your life.

Hair that feels natural.

Hair that gives you confidence on an ordinary Tuesday, not just the day you leave the salon.

Because confidence isn't found in perfection.

It's found in comfort.

In ease.

In recognizing yourself in the mirror and smiling because what you see feels authentic.

That's the kind of confidence I hope every client leaves with.

Not because their hair is flawless.

But because they feel a little lighter.

A little brighter.

A little more like themselves.

And honestly, that's the most beautiful transformation of all. 🀍
