Fall has officially arrived, which means our calendars are heading into their busiest stretch of the year.
If you’re wondering how far ahead you should be planning your appointments, here’s our general maintenance guide:
✂️ Haircuts: every 6–12 weeks
Shorter cuts and shapes usually need closer to 4–6 weeks, while longer styles can often stretch to 8–12.
✨ Gloss / Toner: every 6–10 weeks
Perfect for refreshing tone, shine and richness between bigger colour appointments.
🌿 Root Touch-Ups: every 4–8 weeks
Depending on your natural colour, grey coverage and how much regrowth you’re comfortable with.
🌙 Foils + Dimensional Colour: every 8–16+ weeks
Face-framing or partial maintenance can keep things fresh between larger appointments, while lived-in colour can often go several months between full services.
And remember: maintenance doesn’t look the same for everyone. Your stylist can create a schedule based on your colour, haircut, lifestyle and how softly you want everything to grow out.
With Thanksgiving, holiday parties, Christmas and New Year’s approaching, we recommend booking your next 1–2 appointments now so you get the dates and times that work best for you. 🤎

Six years of Moonstone. 🥹🌙
Six years ago, I opened a solo salon during a global pandemic—with no idea just how many times we would have to open, close, pivot and begin again.
Since then, I’ve hired my first employee… and then my second. I’ve watched talented young stylists grow behind the chair, built a team I’m incredibly proud of and created a salon culture rooted in education, collaboration and genuinely caring for one another.
I’ve seen KEVIN.MURPHY live twice, won an unforgettable business trip to Utah with KEVIN.MURPHY and Mastermynd Beauty, expanded into a bigger and more beautiful space, and somehow found ourselves busier than ever.
And now, in perhaps the most unexpected chapter yet, I’m teaching my husband how to cut hair—and Nick will soon be heading to barber school so he can officially join us behind the chair. 🥹✂️💈
Moonstone has grown from one woman with a dream into a brand, a team, a community and a place that truly feels like home.
None of this would exist without our incredibly loyal clients. Thank you for trusting us with your hair, cheering us on through every chapter, following us into a new space, referring your friends and allowing us to build careers doing what we love.
