There are some nail myths I still hear from clients all the time. 🤍

Not because they don’t care about their nails — but because these ideas have been repeated for so long that they start to sound like facts.

Here are 5 myths I wish we could finally leave behind:

1. “Thicker nails are stronger.”

Not always.

More product doesn’t automatically mean more strength. A strong set comes from proper structure, the right product and the correct amount for your natural nails.

Thicker doesn’t mean better — or more durable.

2. “Natural nails need to breathe.”

Nope. ❌

Nails are made of keratin and don’t breathe. What they actually need is proper preparation, correct application and safe removal.

3. “Gel products ruin natural nails.”

The product itself isn’t usually the problem.

Damage most often happens because of over-filing, incorrect application or improper removal.

4. “One product works for everyone.”

Absolutely not.

Every set should be customized. Your nail condition, flexibility, lifestyle and everyday habits all matter when choosing the right system.

What works perfectly for one person may not work for someone else.

5. “If a nail lifts, the nail tech is always to blame.”

Not necessarily.

Technique can certainly affect retention, but so can the natural nail, hormones, medications, frequent water exposure and everyday habits.

That’s why there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to nails.
