π Restocked π
My Original Whipped Tallow, Lavender Whipped Tallow, and Cold Sore Support Tallow Lip Balm are all back in stock!
If you've never tried tallow before, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about..
Tallow has been used in traditional skincare for generations. It's rich in naturally occurring vitamins A, D, E, and K, and its fatty acid profile is extremely similar to the oils found in our own skin.
Many people including myself find it deeply moisturizing without feeling heavy, making it a favourite for dry skin, rough hands, cracked heels, and everyday skin support.
I love tallow because it's simple & not overwhelming. No long list of ingredients, I don't add any fragrances, only whole herbs.
It's one of those "old-fashioned" things that somehow found its way back into the spotlight, and for good reason!
π I'd love to know:
Have you ever tried tallow skincare before? If so, what made you fall in love with it?
Or, if you haven't tried it yet:
What's the one skincare product you couldn't live without?

Confession: I always feel a little awkward posting photos of myself. π
I'd much rather share the plants, or whatever I'm currently making in the apothecary.
But I also want Prairie Roots Botanical to feel personal. When you support a small business, you're supporting a real person, and I think it's important that you know who that person is.
The truth is, Prairie Roots Botanical is just me... πΏ
A mom, a gardener, a homeschooling parent, and a plant nerd who somehow turned her passion project into a little business. Every herb is harvested, dried, blended, bottled, labelled, and packed by me.
So hi! I'm Mackenzie. πΏ
Today I'm harvesting one of my favourite kid-friendly herbs, one that goes into my favourite magic Teething Potion (and is also wonderful in tea!)
Take a guess in the comments what herb it is! π
Thank you for being here. π
(Don't mind the chaos in the background - we've been doing a bunch of yard clean up π)

If I could only bring a handful of herbs on a camping trip, yarrow would absolutely make the cut. πΏ
This humble little plant has been a staple in traditional herbal first aid kits for generations and is one of the herbs I reach for most often when spending time outdoors.
Lightweight, easy to pack, and incredibly versatile, Yarrow Powder is a simple addition to your camping gear, hiking pack, glove box, or emergency kit.

A little more about me, and the heart behind Prairie Roots Botanical. πΏ
I often think about what my goal is with all of this.
The answer is actually pretty simple: I want people to feel supported.
I know how overwhelming it can be when you're looking for answers, trying to care for yourself or your family, and feeling like you're navigating it all alone. My hope is to offer tools, education, and plant-based products that help people feel a little more empowered and a little more confident in caring for themselves.
At the end of the day, Prairie Roots Botanical has never been about convincing anyone of anything. It's about providing options.
I believe knowledge is powerful. I believe people deserve access to information and the ability to make informed decisions about their own bodies, their own families, and their own lives. I think we should all be curious, ask questions, do our own research, and take an active role in our health and well-being.
I also believe there is incredible value in reconnecting with the plants growing around us. The skills we learn, the knowledge we gain, and our relationship with the natural world are things that can't easily be taken away.
Whether you're here to learn about herbs, explore traditional plant uses, or simply find products that align with your values, I'm grateful you're here.
This little apothecary is about more than tinctures, teas, and salves. π
It's about connection, education, resilience, and remembering that sometimes the most powerful tools are the ones that have been growing around us all along. πΏ

A little reminder that there are only a few Norns Collection Ritual Oil sets left. πΏπ
When I created these oils, I wanted them to feel like an invitation to slow down, connect, and create small moments of intention in everyday life. On top of deepening a calling to my Norwegian ancestry.
βThe Hearth - grounding, protection, and homeπΏ
βThe Veil - dreams, intuition, and reflectionπ
βThe Bloodline - ancestry, connection, and remembranceπ©Έ
Each oil is handcrafted with whole botanicals slowly infused into nourishing olive oil.
Once these remaining sets are gone, I don't have immediate plans for another batch, so if you've been considering adding them to your collection, now is a lovely time.
Which of the three speaks to you most right now? π

Frankly Glowing Face Oil π
Did you know that our Frankly Glowing Face Oil is infused with real frankincense resin?
While many skincare products rely on concentrated essential oils or fragrance oils, I prefer a slower approach. I gently infuse frankincense resin directly into nourishing carrier oils, allowing the plant's constituents to be extracted over time.
Why?
Because I love working with whole botanicals whenever possible. It makes me (and the product) feel more connected to the plant itself, creating a gentle, beautiful infusion without the intensity of concentrated oils.
Frankincense has been treasured for centuries and is traditionally associated with supporting healthy-looking skin. Combined with jojoba oil, it leaves skin feeling soft, nourished, and radiant.
If you could choose one ingredient for your dream facial oil, what would it be? πΏ

This comfrey plant has contributed to so many products, garden beds, compost piles, and learning opportunities over the years... and it has me wondering:
What would you like to see more of from Prairie Roots Botanical? πΏ
One of my favourite parts of this business isn't just creating products (Although I love being able to work with the plants and bring to life their offerings) - it's the community that comes with them. Over the past year I've had the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people, share some of my favourite plants, host my first herbalism evening, and have countless conversations about herbs, gardening, motherhood, food preservation, homeschooling, and living a little closer to the land.
As my Prairie Roots Botanical passion project continues, I'd love to know what you want.
