For Acne Awareness Month, I wanted to share a side of acne that people do not always see.

People may see a breakout, redness, texture, or a “bad skin day.”

But they do not always see the mirror-checking, the overthinking, avoiding photos, taking progress pictures, or how much it can affect confidence.

My skin has changed a lot — and it still does. Some days are calmer, some days it flares again. I am learning that healing is not always linear, and a flare-up does not erase progress.

If you are dealing with acne too, you are not alone.

Not every SPF works for every situation.

Some days I’m wearing makeup. Some days my skin is feeling extra sensitive. Some days I’m outside for hours and need something easy to reapply. And some formulas just work better for certain skin concerns than others.

These are the SPFs I reach for depending on the day, my skin, and what I’m doing.

At the end of the day, the best sunscreen isn’t the most expensive one, the trendiest one, or the one everyone else is using.
