Having been under dermatological care since age 25, when I had precancerous spots removed from my leg, I have become familiar with regular check-ups. At my April appointment, I pointed out a spot on my arm that seemed unusual, despite not conforming to typical skin cancer symptoms. We opted to remove it anyway. My dermatologist called the next Monday to inform me that the oncologist's office would be contacting me to arrange a meeting. Later that week, I met with the oncologist and we developed a plan. The following Friday, I underwent surgery and was fortunate to have a positive outcome. The surgeon successfully removed all affected tissue, and it had not spread to my lymph nodes. As an Esthetician and laser specialist, I often find suspicious spots on my clients. I recommend booking annual mole checks with your dermatologist and practicing sun protection by wearing SPF and being sun-smart.
