Hello! I'm Janelle, a Registered Massage Therapist, Postpartum Doula & creator of The Cesarean Recovery Guide.

I am here to support and empower you in pregnancy, postpartum and especially post csection. Nurturing the Mother is the result of an evolution of care. Through the years I, Janelle Fontaine, have grown my practice from being a massage therapist to the general public to narrowing my skills in supporting birthing folks in pregnancy and postpartum. After the birth of my first son, I saw the need for

Should you see a pelvic floor physiotherapist after a c-section? Yes. And here’s what nobody told you when you were discharged ➡️

Your pelvic floor held your baby for nine months. The way your baby arrived doesn’t change that. Research shows 1 in 2 women experience at least one pelvic floor dysfunction within 10 years of giving birth, regardless of how they delivered.

Here are the 5 reasons I always recommend pelvic floor physio to my c-section clients:

1. Stress incontinence
2. Pelvic pain
3. Diastasis recti
4. Scar rehab
5. Core reconnection

A few things worth knowing before you go: you can start as early as you feel ready (that can be as 1-2 weeks postpartum!), and your first visit can be virtual, which makes it so much more accessible in those early weeks. And not all physiotherapists are pelvic floor physios. They have specialized training, so it matters who you see.

Start with the Cesarean Recovery Guide right after your baby is born, my 16-week program covering scar recovery and core reconnection after cesarean birth. Then find a pelvic floor physio in your city who specializes in postpartum or cesarean recovery. 🤎

🎉 The Cesarean Recovery Guide turns 3!

Three years ago this program came into the world as a response to a gap so many cesarean families were falling through. people told to rest, wait, and bounce back, without any consideration for long term scar healing.

Since then it has found its way into the hands of families with fresh recoveries, people healing from surgeries years old, and practitioners who wanted to offer something more meaningful than a six week clearance.

If you have used it, passed it along, or brought it into your practice — thank you. You are part of something that keeps growing. 💛

We celebrated the 2nd birthday with a croquembouche which is a French tower of cream-filled pastry served at milestone occasions. Felt very fitting to celebrate this year again with the same memory. 🎂✨

Almost 3 years ago I created something I wished every cesarean mom could take home with them.

As an RMT working with postpartum mamas, I kept seeing the same thing. C-section moms leaving their appointments with so many questions about their healing, their scar, their body, and not enough answers. I wanted to reach further than my treatment room walls. So I built the Cesarean Recovery Guide.

Tomorrow it turns THREE, and I am so proud of every mama who has taken her recovery into her own hands with it. 🤎

To celebrate, I’m giving you 30% off with code HAPPY30 at checkout. June 22nd to 28th only.

Comment “3” and I’ll send the link straight to your inbox!

The CRG is for you if:

You feel like you weren’t given enough information after your c-section. You’re not sure how to care for your scar. You want to support your healing but don’t know where to start. You just want someone to walk you through it, step by step.

Inside you’ll find everything I wish someone had handed to my clients on their way out the door:

How to prevent infection, the products that genuinely support recovery, the benefits of scar massage and exactly how to do it (and yes, we even cover what to do if you’re not ready to touch your scar yet), types of scars, babywearing after a c-section, and so much more.

The heart of the guide is scar massage. Learning how to care for your scar early gives you tools you will use for the rest of your life.

You also get access to the Cesarean Recovery Community on Facebook, the Motherhood Self-Care Essentials bonus series, immediate + lifetime access, and every update I add as I keep learning and growing.

Whether you had your c-section yesterday or ten years ago, there is something here for you. You are not too early. You are not too late.

Your healing is always worth investing in. 🤎

Use code HAPPY30 at checkout. June 22nd to 28th only!!

Think doulas only support vaginal births? Let’s bust that myth right now 🤍

A cesarean doesn’t make support less important. If anything, cesarean families often need it more, especially in those first hours after baby arrives.

Here’s what doula support through a cesarean actually looks like:

Before birth: building a birth plan that reflects your preferences, explaining what’s available so you can make informed decisions, and helping you prep questions for your care provider. Also figuring out your postpartum plan! You will need many people in your corner no matter how you birth.

Day of: staying with you through the waiting period and any delays, helping you and your partner stay grounded and present for meeting your baby. Some hospitals allow your doula into the operating room, but most don’t, so it’s worth asking your care provider about their specific policy ahead of time. If your doula can’t be in the OR, she can wait right outside and be there the moment you’re back in your room, ready to support you and your partner from the very first hours.

After birth: taking photos of you with your baby, making sure you get a real meal in before she goes, making sure your partner eats and gets a break too, helping with skin to skin and feeding goals, suggesting positions that may protect your incision, and showing you how to get up with more ease. Plus listening while you process it all, and reminding you that cesarean birth IS birth.

Planned or unplanned, you deserve support through every version of bringing your baby into the world.

Check out my Cesarean Recovery Guide .ca for caring for your c-section scar and recovering from cesarean birth.
