Active Aging Week
October 5-11, 2026. Initiated in 2003 by the International Council on Active Aging, presented by Humana.
Initiated in 2003 by the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), Active Aging Week takes place each year during the last week of September. The weeklong campaign calls attention to and wholeheartedly celebrates the positivity of aging today. It showcases the capabilities of older adults as fully participating members of society and spotlights the role models that lead the way. Active Aging Week challenges society’s diminished expectations of aging by showing that, regardless of age or health conditions, adults over 50 can live as fully as possible in all areas of life—physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational and environmental. The objective of the annual health-promotion event is to give as many older adults as possible the means to experience wellness activities and exercise in a safe, supportive environment. It also promotes the benefits of healthier, more active lifestyles across the life span. In 2015, the observance will be held September 27–October 3.

We are thrilled to have raised more than $59,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association this year—and more than $500,000 since our partnership began.
As an Alzheimer’s Association® National Team, the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) is committed to helping create a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
Today, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and more than 11 million family members and friends serve as caregivers. These numbers represent millions of individuals, families and communities whose lives are impacted every day.
That’s why ICAA is proud to support the Alzheimer’s Association and its work to advance care, support and research.
But we’re not finished.
We encourage you to join the ICAA team and help us make an even greater impact. Turn something you already love doing into an opportunity to make a difference.

Did you know? Cycling might be one of the simplest ways for older adults to stay healthier, longer. A 10-year study in Japan found that seniors who rode bicycles had lower risks of needing long-term care and dying—especially those who didn’t drive. Continuing or even starting cycling later in life still delivered noticeable benefits. The results highlight biking as a surprisingly powerful tool for maintaining independence and well-being.
