Toner is what makes it read icy, and a little rinses out with every wash. Plan a gloss every four to six weeks, and use purple shampoo only when the yellow shows.

If your red fades by week three, you're not doing anything wrong.

Red colour molecules are bigger than other shades, so they sit closer to the surface and wash out first. That's why we build reds and coppers in layers: a richer base underneath, brighter tone on top. As it softens, it still looks like a choice.
