I. I stopped comparing myself to others. Their pace isn’t my pace. Their path isn’t my path. The moment I stopped measuring myself against someone else’s timeline, my own began to move. Comparison kept me distracted instead of moving forward, chasing a version of success that wasn’t even mine to chase. The second I let go of that, I had room to actually see what I was building.

II. I stayed true to myself, my craft and my technique. No softening of my approach. Just doing the work the way I actually believe in it. There’s a quiet confidence in not bending and in trusting that the technique I’ve spent years refining doesn’t need to be diluted to be desirable. I fully trusted that the right bridal makeup clients will come.

III. I started aligning myself with the work, not the wage. Not every job is about the number attached to it. My true currency is energy and alignment and it’s paid me back tenfold. When I take work that feels right, I show up differently. The energy I bring to an aligned job is unmatched and people feel that. It is what keeps them coming back and sending others my way.

IV. I stopped measuring my success by how full my books were. A packed calendar isn’t the same as a life that feels good. Balance is the real flex not burnout dressed up as ambition. I used to think a full schedule meant I’d made it. Now I know a full schedule with no room to breathe is just a prettier kind of exhausted. Success that costs me my peace isn’t success.

V. I learned the art of saying no when the energy doesn’t align. Every no protects the yes that’s meant for me. It’s not rejection, it’s discernment. Saying no used to feel like turning away opportunity. Now I see it as making space for the right bridal clients, the collaborations and the energy that actually belong in my world.

There is a particular kind of love language in efficiency. People mistake a streamlined workflow for something cold, almost clinical. But for me, it’s the opposite. A calm, intentional setup on a wedding morning is how I protect the bride’s peace. When my kit works the way it should, she never has to feel the logistics. She just feels taken care of. That ease is not an accident. It is years of refinement, built one wedding at a time.

So when I say my kit has evolved, I don’t just mean better products or smarter organization. It also means that I have evolved as an artist, as a presence in someone’s most tender morning, as a person who keeps choosing to get better at holding space for love. My kit doesn’t just hold my tools. It holds every bride who has entrusted one of the most important mornings of their life. I hold that with honour and deepest gratitude.

Still over-the-moon with my bride, Emmah. She is so beautiful! How did I get so lucky? 🥹

Some clients walk in and you just know that there’s a softness about them that fills the whole room.

Lyz is one of those people.

We played Chopin and Vivaldi, laughed over conspiracy theories, talked about history and faith and somewhere between the brushstrokes, I was reminded why I love this work so deeply. It’s never just makeup. It’s the conversation. The trust. The moment someone lets you be part of their story.

She came in fresh from surgery, wanting to feel like herself again. Radiant. Alive. Her.

And she absolutely was.
