Age is a fundamentally ridiculous concept.

When we’re young, we can’t wait to be older. And as we get older, we’d give almost anything to turn the clock back to a time when youth was something we simply took for granted.

I don’t feel 55… but here we are.

What I do feel is wise. I’ve lived. I’ve learned. I’ve seen so much, experienced so much, and crossed paths with more people than I could ever count.

And when I look back, I realize that one of the greatest gifts of my life has been the connections I’ve collected along the way.

I still have friends who date all the way back to elementary school. Friends from three different high schools. People I met on vacation, at parties, or concerts, who somehow became part of my story and are still present today. Colleagues from virtually every job I’ve ever had. People I’ve met through my career, my travels, my children, who, somewhere along the way, became so much more than familiar faces.

I think I am, by nature, a collector of souls and good energy. When I connect with someone, I carry them with me. Time and distance have never mattered much. I treasure that about my life.

I am incredibly grateful for every person who has walked beside me for a season, stayed for decades, taught me something, made me laugh, made me cry, challenged me, loved me, or simply shared a moment in time with me.

And especially for those who hold a piece of my heart. If you have a piece of it, you already know.

Maybe that’s one of the blessings about getting older. You begin to understand that the richness of a life isn’t measured only in years. It’s measured in the people, the stories, the memories, the connections and all those little pieces of one another we collect along the way.

So here’s to 55. 🥂

Older? Apparently.
Wiser? Absolutely.
Grateful? Beyond measure.
Finished? Not even close…….Just getting started baby

Dolly Parton was so much more than a legendary voice. She was warmth, wit, authenticity, generosity and light—a woman who reminded us to laugh at ourselves, embrace who we are, and never apologize for wanting to feel beautiful at every age.
