11 loaves of soap coming up!!
This is the initial stage of soap making; adding lye to water and NEVER water to lye 😬
Allow to cool
While that happens, I can pre-measure my fats, butters and oils, determine which essential oils I will use and measure those out.
This will be the cold process to make soap, which is why it takes 6 weeks to cure or saponify.
There’s also the hot process where the beginning stages are the same, except the use of a crook pot is used to “cook” the butters, oils, to spread up the process of curing the soap, creating a more of a “homesteady” looking soap.
I personally like the cold process much more as the finished product is prettier.
It all comes out the same useful bar of soap though.
