One of the hardest moments to navigate as an educator happens when one student gets stuck
while everyone else is ready to keep going.

👉🏽 That's The Ordeal.

It might be a haircutting technique they simply cannot execute yet. Or it could be an idea that
challenges their current thinking so deeply that resistance shows up.

Our responsibility is to help that learner work through the block without abandoning the learning experience of everyone else in the room.💯

That's why great facilitation requires more than knowing your material. You need a plan, you
need flexibility, and you need to be prepared to serve a wide gradient of learners.🙌🏽

Most importantly: we never leave a student behind.‼️

Handle the Ordeal well, and what initially threatens to derail the workshop can become one of its greatest opportunities for transformation, celebration, growth, and even greater unity in the room.😉

We're getting close to the end of our Hero's Learning Journey.
Next: The Reward.🤩

This is where the journey really starts producing change.‼️

👉🏽 Stage #4 — Trials & Transformation — is the bulk of the learning experience: the haircut from beginning to end, the leadership work, the communication work, the exploration, practice and discovery that move someone from where they started toward a different outcome.

The challenge for us as educators? Not everyone starts at the same level.💫

Design for the wide gradient.

Your advanced learner should have somewhere to go, and the person who needs more development should never be left behind.💙

That’s how we create an experience that gives every learner the opportunity to transform.🙌🏽

Learning doesn't begin when you start talking.
It begins when your students start participating.‼️

Crossing the Threshold is the moment your class truly begins.🌟

Your students have left the safety of what they know and have chosen to step into something unfamiliar. Your job now isn't to lecture—it’s to lead.🙌🏽

Whether you're teaching haircutting, leadership, communication, or business development, don't ask people to understand the lesson...

Create an experience where they discover it for themselves.😉

When people do, they remember.
When people experience, they transform.💯

As facilitators, this is also the moment we become students again.

Watch the room.
🔻Who's leaning in?
🔻Who's still skeptical?
🔻Who's excited?
🔻Who's quietly protecting themselves?

Because before anyone can learn the content, they have to trust the journey.

Education isn't information transfer. It's guiding people across a threshold they couldn't have crossed alone.💙

Anything Is Possible.🤩

What activities have you used that immediately pulled people into the learning experience?
👇 I'd love to hear them.

The older I get, the more I realize that the best days aren't necessarily the biggest ones.

They're the days filled with the things that genuinely bring you joy.🙌🏽

For me, that was time with family, wandering the streets of New York, taking in incredible street art, sharing a great meal with Oona, and simply appreciating another year of life.✨

It was a perfect birthday.
Feeling very grateful.❤️

One of the biggest misconceptions in facilitation is believing engagement is something we create.‼️

I believe engagement begins with a decision.

Very early in every workshop, presentation, or learning experience, participants choose whether they'll simply observe... or actively participate in their own growth.

That's what the Hero's Journey calls The Call to Adventure.🤩

After creating psychological safety, I intentionally begin asking questions that invite people into the learning experience. That simple shift changes the energy of the room and creates the conditions for genuine transformation.🙌🏽

What's one question you use to get people participating early?

➡️ Next Episode: Crossing the Threshold—where commitment becomes action and learning truly begins.

👉🏽 Stay tuned as I continue this series.😉

It’s my birthday today, and birthdays always seem to invite a little reflection.

One lesson continues to stand out.

There were moments in my life that I genuinely believed would define me forever.

Today, they feel like hazy memories.

That doesn’t mean they weren’t difficult.

It simply reminds me that our perspective changes as we grow.✨

So if you’re in the middle of something that feels overwhelming today, I hope this encourages you.🙌🏽

One day, this may simply become another chapter in your story.

Have a beautiful day.💙

The Hero's Journey for Facilitators | Part 1: The Ordinary World✨

I've spent the last twenty years studying one question:
👉🏽 Why do some learning experiences change people while others are forgotten almost immediately?

One framework I continue coming back to is the Hero's Journey.‼️

Not because we're telling stories.....but because transformation follows a recognizable pattern.💯

In this first video, I explore the opening stage: The Ordinary World.🌎

Before we ask people to change, challenge themselves, or learn something new, we first need to understand the world they're already living in.

As facilitators, it's easy to become focused on our content.

But the audience doesn't begin in our lesson.

They begin in their reality.⚡️

When we acknowledge that reality and establish a shared baseline, we create the psychological safety that allows people to engage, take risks, and grow.🙌🏽

Over the next seven videos, I'm going to show you how to use the Hero's Journey to design learning experiences that people don't just remember - they actually apply.🤩

I'm curious...
How do you usually open your workshops or presentations?❓❓

In Part 2, we'll explore The Call to Adventure - the moment every great facilitator answers one question:
👉🏽 How do you create enough curiosity and tension that your audience actually wants to change?

I hope you'll join me.😉

28/07/2026

I've learned something after years of teaching professionals, coaching leaders, and facilitating workshops.

Knowledge is incredibly valuable.⚡️

But knowledge reaches its full value only when it becomes action.🙌🏽

That's where confidence grows.
That's where habits change.
That's where lives change.

What's one thing you already know it's time to put into practice?

24/07/2026

It's amazing how easy it is to get caught in doing.‼️

🔹Task after task.
🔹Meeting after meeting.
🔹Client after client.

Before long, we're measuring our day by everything we checked off instead of what we actually created.

I've been reminded recently that purpose isn't something you find once.

It's something you reconnect with ..again and again.💯

Maybe today isn't asking you to work harder. Maybe it's asking you to remember why you started.🙌🏽
