HAVEN FACIAL
Where my studies meet my hands.
After more than 20 years of working with touch, I’m still learning.
And the more I learn, the more I realise that a facial is not simply about the skin.
My studies in aromatics, botanical ingredients, pain science and the nervous system, together with Sculptural Face Lifting and coaching, have changed the way I understand bodywork.
One lesson has become especially important to me:
The body gives us signals.
Our job is not always to “fix” them —
sometimes it is first to listen.
Pain, tension, sensitivity, breathing, facial expression and the way someone responds to touch can all give us information.
But a sign is not automatically a diagnosis.

Der Sympathikus ist Teil unseres autonomen Nervensystems und unterstützt den Körper bei Aktivität und erhöhten Anforderungen. Der Parasympathikus ist unter anderem an Ruhe- und Erholungsprozessen beteiligt.

Wer mit Menschen arbeitet, sollte den Körper verstehen. Anatomie und Physiologie gehören deshalb auch im Wellnessbereich zu einer verantwortungsvollen Arbeit.
Nicht, um Diagnosen zu stellen oder Erkrankungen zu behandeln. Sondern um bewusst, achtsam und individuell mit dem Menschen vor uns zu arbeiten.

BEVOR DU AUFGIBST.
Letzten Montag saß ich mit Nico ,, meinem Steuerbüro vor meiner BWA – sieben Monate Zahlen.
Nicht alles schön. Aber alles ehrlich.
Wir haben genau hingeschaut:
Was läuft gut? Was nicht? Wo verlieren wir Geld? Was können wir verändern?
Dabei musste ich an viele Selbstständige in Kiel denken.
Kosmetik, Massage, Wellness, Therapie, kleine Studios und Praxen. Menschen, die mit Herz etwas aufgebaut haben – und heute sagen:
„Die Kunden werden weniger. Alles wird teurer. Vielleicht muss ich meine Preise senken. Vielleicht muss ich aufgeben.“
Aber bevor du aufgibst: Schau noch einmal genau hin.
Eine schwierige BWA ist keine Entscheidung.
Sie ist Information.
Ich komme aus einer Unternehmerfamilie, habe BWL studiert und führe seit 16 Jahren Cookie’s Organic Spa. Auch ich kenne Höhen, Tiefen und Neuanfänge.
Schon als Kind sagte ich zu meinem Papa:
„Steh auf, Dad. Wir schauen noch einmal. Wir schaffen das.“
Vielleicht ist jetzt die Zeit, meine Erfahrung weiterzugeben.

MENOPAUSE RITUAL 07 — TOUCH
Menopause can be felt in the body.
Research shows that muscle and joint pain become more commonly reported through the menopause transition. But not every pain is caused by menopause — our bodies are far more complex than that.
For me, this makes one thing especially important:
Listen.
For more than 20 years, I have studied the body — anatomy, physiology, massage, aromatherapy, mental wellbeing and different therapeutic traditions.
But some of my earliest lessons came much earlier, through my Thai and Indian family roots, where touch, herbs, food and caring for the body were simply part of life.
Today, at Cookie’s Organic Spa, I still follow one principle:
Before I touch, I listen.
How does your body feel today?
Where are you holding tension?
Does your body need movement, rest, warmth — or simply a moment to feel itself again?
Research is also exploring massage during menopause, with promising findings for some psychological and fatigue-related outcomes. But massage is not a cure, and it does not replace medical care.
For me, its value is also something beautifully human:
Touch gives us a moment to reconnect with our body.
Menopause is teaching me to give myself the same attention I have given other women for so many years.
Not only asking:
“What is wrong with my body?”
But also:
“What am I feeling in my body?”
Sometimes listening means rest.
Sometimes movement.
Sometimes seeing a doctor.
And sometimes, it means allowing yourself to receive safe, intentional touch.

I’m grateful to continue learning, listening and bringing what resonates with me into my own journey and work.
MENOPAUSE RITUAL 06 — LIGHT ☀️
What if the sun isn’t awake when you are?
I live in Kiel, in northern Germany.
And especially during the darker months, when I wake around 5am, there simply isn’t morning sunlight waiting outside for me.
But this is my time.
Before the world gets noisy, I meditate, practise yoga and prepare myself for the day.
So during those dark Kiel mornings, I turn on my daylight lamp.
It has become part of my morning ritual.
Light.
Movement.
Breath.
Stillness.
The more I continue to learn about our circadian rhythm, sleep and wellbeing, the more fascinated I am by how strongly our bodies respond to light and darkness.
Morning light is one of the signals our brain uses to understand:
The day is beginning.
Of course, a lamp isn’t the sun.
When daylight arrives, I still love to step outside — even when Kiel gives us clouds, wind and grey skies. ☁️
Because outdoor daylight is still daylight.
But I also believe wellness has to work with the life and the place we actually live in.
I don’t live somewhere with tropical sunrise every morning.
I live in Kiel.
So I adapt.
On dark mornings, my lamp accompanies my meditation and yoga.
When nature brings the light, I go outside and receive the real thing.
Maybe that is another lesson menopause is teaching me:
Don’t fight your environment.
Understand it.
Work with it.
We don’t need perfect conditions to create good rituals.
Sometimes we simply begin with what we have.
