Last week at the CASA ARYA x LAMIA workshop, we explored the architecture of our skin. The core insight: we must stop stripping our natural lipid barrier. When we constantly alter our pH with harsh chemical products, our skin enters a state of active stress.

Hydrolates are created through the traditional process of steam distillation. When steam passes through the leaves, petals, or roots of a botanical, it captures its exact chemical profile. As the steam cools and turns back into liquid, it separates into two parts: the concentrated essential oil and the distilled plant water. This water is the hydrolate.
