Calm isnāt a personality trait. Itās a practice.
For most of my life, I thought calm meant feeling nothing.
Smile through it. Push through it. Handle it.
Twenty-three years behind a salon chair taught me how to hold everyone elseās stories. Then autoimmune disease taught me my body had been holding mine.
Hereās what I know now:
Calm is not the absence of feeling. Itās the presence of choice.
The fear still shows up. The frustration still shows up. The hard days still show up.
But now I notice the pause. And in that pause, I get to choose.
Breathe before I react. Soften before I snap. Rest before I break.
This isnāt just mindset. A 2023 Stanford randomized trial found that just 5 minutes a day of slow, extended exhales improved mood and lowered breathing rate, outperforming mindfulness meditation in the same study.
Five minutes. Not perfection. Just practice.
Your nervous system is always listening. What are you teaching it today? š
Not me having a different magnesium for every single problem in my life. Magnesium is not just āfor sleep.ā Itās the multi-tool of your supplement drawer. š§°
People ask me all the time if I take magnesium every day. Girl. Every. Single. Day. But not just one kind, because magnesium isnāt one-size-fits-all. Hereās my personal lineup:
š“ Magnesium Glycinate (nighttime)
This is my wind-down bestie. Itās the most bioavailable and gentle form, and it supports relaxation and deeper sleep by calming the nervous system. I take it about an hour before bed.
š§³ Magnesium Citrate (travel days)
Travel and airport food throw my gut schedule off every time. Citrate draws water into the intestines, which gets things moving again. Basically my āget back on trackā magnesium.
š¤ Magnesium L-Threonate (period headaches)
This form crosses the blood-brain barrier more easily than others, which is why I reach for it around my cycle when headaches like to show up. Research is still emerging here, but early studies link it to cognitive and neurological support.
Same mineral, three totally different jobs. Your body isnāt being dramatic, it just needs the right form for what itās actually asking for. š

Stop scrolling. Your vagus nerve just tried to talk to you and you ignored it. š§ ā”ļøš«
Everyone says āregulate your nervous system.ā Almost no one tells you how the message actually gets sent.
Meet the vagus nerve. Itās the longest nerve in your body, running from your brainstem down to your gut, heart, and lungs. Think of it as a live, always on cable between the two, except itās mostly one-way. About 80% of its signals travel from gut to brain, not the other way around. Your gut talks. Your brain listens.
The strength and speed of that signal is called vagal tone. Higher vagal tone, your body shifts out of stress faster. Lower vagal tone, it gets stuck there.
Hereās the part nobody explains. When danger shows up (real or imagined), your sympathetic system floods you with adrenaline and cortisol. Heart racing. Senses sharp. Thatās fight or flight, and itās supposed to be temporary.
The problem isnāt that this system exists. The problem is living in it. Digestion slows. Sleep suffers. Inflammation climbs. Your body wasnāt built to sprint all day, every day.
Thereās one thing that starts shifting this today, and most people have never tried it on purpose.
Iām putting it in a free guide with a few simple ways to support your gut and calm that signal, starting today.
Comment GUT and Iāll send it your way. š
The habit that gave me 30 pounds of weight loss? I did it messy, not perfect.
No perfection required here. Just messy consistency. š
Waking up early. Going to bed on time. Taking your vitamin D. Cooking breakfast. Walking. Reading before bed. Whatever your habit is, 80% and repeat beats perfect and quit, every time.
That little habit you donāt even think about anymore? Thatās the one that changes everything.
Ready to show up for yourself? Comment āMESSYā and Iāll send you a free guide with 20 messy consistencies you can start today, small habits that move the needle on your weight loss and health goals.
Youāve come so far. So why does it still feel like you havenāt gone anywhere at all? š
Real talk: healing is not a straight line, and itās definitely not fast.
But so many women I work with are so busy chasing the next goal, the next protocol, the next āfixedā version of themselves, that they forget to look back at how far theyāve already come.
You started eating breakfast instead of running on empty. You started drinking water before your coffee. You started saying no without the guilt spiral. You started listening to your body instead of pushing through it.
Thatās not nothing. Thatās the work.
True healing takes time, and it happens in these small, unglamorous, easy to overlook moments. Not in some dramatic before and after.
Give yourself some grace today. Youāre allowed to be proud of progress that isnāt finished yet.
This is exactly what I teach my clients: messy consistency over perfection. Small steps, repeated, even when theyāre imperfect.

I closed 47 health tabs to film this instead!
Some days the healing looks like protocols, trackers, and dialed-in routines.
Other days it looks like dancing badly in your kitchen while you put groceries away and deciding the noise can wait.
Both are allowed. š
The truth is, you donāt need one more thing to optimize today. You need permission to laugh at yourself and trust that your body (and your gut instinct) usually knows more than the 15 tabs you have open.
So today: less noise, more intuition. Give yourself the grace youād give a friend.
But if you ARE ready for a little more noise (the good kind), comment āDIGESTIONā and Iāll send you my tips and tricks for healthier digestion. š
The bloat that makes you cancel dinner plans isnāt about willpower. Itās your body asking for support.
Bloating so bad you second guess going out to eat with your friends.
Fatigue that has you typing āmaybe Iāll see how I feelā instead of āIām in!ā
I know that spiral. Iāve lived it.
Hereās what Iāve learned, and what I teach every one of my clients: healing isnāt one big overhaul. Itās one small, messy consistency stacked on the next.
A walk after dinner. One more vegetable at lunch. Going to bed 15 minutes earlier. None of these feel like much on their own. But stack them daily, weekly, monthly, and 6 months from now youāre not the same woman who almost said no to the memory.
You donāt have to overhaul your whole life tonight. You just have to show up for yourself, messily, one small thing at a time.
Comment GUT and Iāll send you a free guide with small, messy consistencies you can start today to create big changes in the next 6 months. š
