Audrey Hepburn, the much-loved and iconic movie and fashion star knew what it meant to pursue something with tenacity. She grew up during World War II and suffered starvation while she was forced to hide from the N***s. Another of my favorite quotes from her is:

"I believe in pink. I believe laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day. And I believe in miracles.”

I’ve been a regular on with these two great men Dermot Wheelan and Dave Moore for over five years. They are both stellar examples of positive male mental health.

Dermot and Dave are naturally hilarious and their humour helps their listeners to feel brighter each day. 😀

Dermot is in his own words is “shrinking one amygdala at a time” with his great work in mindfulness. He is helping to change the landscape in Ireland for men to express themselves more openly.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my clinical expertise with the listeners of The Dermot & Dave Show and truly hope it resonates with them.

I always do my best to make my segment as practical as possible to implement.

Je suis en Paris, c'est magnifique!

I have so many stories from my time in this majestic city, I am not sure which one to share with you...

I'll share my first experience of being here as that is a good place to start. I had just turned 17 and had been aupairing in the south of France for three months (that is another story) when I first came to Paris. I was very young and it was the loneliest time of my life. The family I was working for asked me to bring a huge amount of baby clothes to a relative in Paris on the TGV as I was flying home from there so I was put on the train with six huge suitcases which were actually bigger than me! This however is not a tale of woe, but of kindness.

A young Parisian guy of about 21, coming home on leave from military service, felt sorry for me and helped me to get the cases on and off the train. We also chatted for the entire journey...again, not what you think, he was not trying to chat me up and he and his girlfriend spent the entire weekend showing me the sights of Paris! I was quite vulnerable as I had no plan or clue what I was going to do for the weekend. They took such great care of me, brought me to their parents for dinner, paid for me to go up the Tour Eiffel and even a trip on the Bateux Mouche. Parisians have a reputation for being cold, but that was one of the warmest weekends of my life and their kindness has stayed with me ever since.

From living in Paris when I was 20 to getting married here at 28 my love affair with Paris is a lifelong commitment.

Meet my grandparents…

Last Saturday some distant relations from Wales and the North of England came to visit my family. It was very amusing as we know we are related but are not quite sure how! As one 'relative' said, "our family tree is more of a stump." However, what we do know is that my grandmother (pictured above on her wedding day) and her family took care of their mother when she needed it and a strong bond was formed between the two families.

I was twelve when my grandmother died and I never unfortunately met my grandfather as he died before I was born.

Looking at this photo of them though brings to light who they were - beyond my grandparents, two people, in love and setting out on a new adventure - life together.

They were married during the Second World War and couples getting married then were generally older, there were no white dresses and finding a home was incredibly difficult due to the shortage of new buildings. Perhaps one day, future generations will gaze at a photo of me and my husband, Ciaran and wonder what kind of people we were. I can only hope that the kindness that I was nurtured by my grandmother is also passed down to them.
