SPORTS MASSAGE IS ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST MASSAGE.

And if I'm honest, I really dislike the name sports massage because it makes it sound like it's only for sporty people - it really isn't!

You could sit at a desk all day, work in a trade, drive for a living, be on your feet all day, have an old injury, suffer with muscle tension or simply have an area that's causing you pain.

Sports massage can be for anyone!

Sports massage has become increasingly popular and there are lots of different training routes now available. Some are short 1 or 2 day courses can provide a qualification now.

But I am so glad my sports massage course alone took 2 years. As during that time, I studied anatomy and physiology (for the 40th time πŸ˜…), assessment, techniques, rehabilitation, injuries - how to identify and treat, alongside hours of hands-on volunteering at sporting events, hospitals and other settings.

That practical experience was a huge part of my learning. It helped me understand how the body moves.

Our sports massages involve a variety of different techniques and we choose what is appropriate depending on the individual, their symptoms and what we find during assessment.

Some of the techniques we use include:
πŸ”Ή Trigger Point Therapy
πŸ”Ή Myofascial Release
πŸ”Ή Transverse Friction
πŸ”Ή Muscle Energy Techniques
πŸ”Ή Passive & Active Movement

One of the biggest things I believe in is not simply treating where you feel the pain.

Sometimes the area that hurts isn't necessarily the source of the problem. We assess your movement, surrounding muscles, tension and other contributing factors to try to work out what may be contributing to the issue.

✨️Our aim is to treat the source, not just the symptom.✨️

I genuinely love my job. ❀️
I love figuring out what might be contributing to someone's pain. I love learning about the body, understanding how everything works together and seeing how different areas can affect each other.

Every person is different and every treatment should be too. πŸ’™
