I’ve been living with psoriasis for a while now and it’s taught me that healing doesn’t always mean curing.

Over the years I’ve had numerous treatments from Steroid creams (I do not use anymore) to light therapy.

But my main focus now is - Comfort. Calm. Care.

Here’s what helps me most when my skin needs some love:

• Moisturize often

Hydration including skin soaking, keeps my skin soft and less irritated and that’s where Prologic Omega Treatment Oil works its magic.

Containing pure NZ Kiwi Seed Oil this is a high level Omega 3 topical treatment. With 61% ALA this topical oil treats Essential Fatty Acid Deficient skin, along with skin disorders such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, acne and general ageing.

• Gentle showers

Warm (not hot!) water and mild cleansers.

• Rest

Stress can be a trigger, so I slow down when my body asks.

• Be kind to myself

Mentally and physically.

• Gut Health

Internal nutrition and Omega supplements can really help as psoriasis as it’s classified as an autoimmune disease.

I no longer chase a cure, I build care into my everyday life.

Not all skin treatments are trained the same way, and that’s not just us being biased.

Corneotherapy is a remedial skin treatment methodology built around one core idea: repairing and maintaining the skin’s barrier defence systems. It’s closely tied to corneobiology, the study of what’s actually happening in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of your skin.

A standard beauty therapy course teaches you to deliver a lovely facial. Corneotherapy training goes further, teaching you why that treatment should exist at all, and whether it’s genuinely right for the skin in front of you.

If your skin keeps reacting no matter what you try, it might be time to see someone trained in the barrier, not just the surface.

Parabens are some of the most widely used preservatives in skincare. They are effective, stable, and inexpensive.
They are also among the most well documented endocrine disruptors in cosmetic chemistry.

Parabens mimic oestrogen in the body. They have been detected in human tissue. They are linked to hormonal disruption and allergenic potential. And like all conventional preservatives, they cannot distinguish between the bacteria they are formulated to target and the commensal bacteria your skin needs to function.

Please get in touch to find out why Prologic should be your skincare of choice.

This is why I use Prologic in the treatment room and as my home-care.

If conventional preservatives disrupt the microbiome, the obvious question is:

How does Prologic keep its products safe without them?

Four ways.

🌟 Biomimetic INCI - Prologic uses ingredients like Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Soy Lecithin, and Tocopherol (Vitamin E) that support the formulation’s stability while being skin-identical. These work with the skin’s biology rather than
against it.

🌟 Aseptic laboratory manufacturing - Products are manufactured in a controlled, sterile environment that eliminates microbial contamination at the point of
production rather than relying on chemical preservation after the fact.

🌟 High level antioxidants - Antioxidants inhibit oxidative degradation within the formulation, extending product stability naturally. Because oxidation is one of
the primary drivers of product spoilage, a high antioxidant load reduces the conditions that preservatives are typically needed to manage.

🌟 Airless pump packaging - Airless dispensers prevent the product from being exposed to air and external contamination during use. No contamination means
less need for aggressive preservation. Formulation integrity is not a marketing claim. It is an engineering decision made at every stage of development.

Did you know your preservative is not just protecting your product. It is affecting your skin, your barrier, and in some cases, your health.

These are five of the most commonly used preservatives in mainstream skincare. You will find them in products at every price point, including products marketed as gentle, natural, and sensitive-skin friendly.

Check your labels. These ingredients are hiding in plain sight.

In corneotherapy, the goal is to create the conditions for recovery, not to micromanage the skin.

When used appropriately, microbiome supportive ingredients help improve outcomes, calm the skin and build long-term resilience.

That’s why when you visit the Beauty Barn, I will go through your current products, analyse the ingredients, and have a deeper understanding of why the products you currently use are working against your skin rather than
with it.

The skin microbiome is a complex community of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms that live on the surface of your skin and within your follicles.

Each person has a unique microbial profile, shaped by their genetics, age, environment, lifestyle, stress, and climate.

A balanced microbiome is essential for immune regulation, pathogen defence, acid mantle maintenance, and barrier integrity. When it is disrupted, the consequences appear on the skin as acne, rosacea, dermatitis, accelerated
ageing, and post treatment sensitivity.

In corneotherapy, we treat the skin function rather than the microbes. The microbiome reflects the environment we create. By restoring the barrier, the microbiome often rebalances naturally.

To find out what products help restore your barrier get in touch.
