It’s not only moles – how SCARS can raise your risk of skin cancer years later | Daily Mail 04/07/2026

This story was recently in the news so I wanted to share it with anyone who has a scar. Sun exposure on scars, both new ones and old ones, significantly increases the risk of skin cancer because the scar tissue has no level or natural protection against UV rays.

It’s not only moles – how SCARS can raise your risk of skin cancer years later | Daily Mail WAKING up to find a scar he’d had above his eyebrow for 53 years had opened up, TV presenter Mike Parry presumed he had caught it on something. In fact, the ‘cut’ was the first sign of a tumour – having a scar is now known to raise your risk of skin...

This is from one of my very first clients, and she's been coming back for regular massage ever since.

Regular can mean weekly, fortnightly, monthly or biannually - whatever you decide works best for you and your lifestyle.

Today is a planned "day off". A day off massage itself, but by no means a day off work. I give myself these days off to allow my body to recover. After a morning of admin and marketing (dishing out flyers in the local area), now it's time for my favourite lunch (honestly, Garlic and red pepper houmous is just incredible) and my new book. Been wanting to get my teeth into this for ages, so now is the time.

I'm always trying to widen my knowledge, learn new concepts and, equally as important, unlearn outdated ones. Staying up-to-date is an integral part of my job and I wouldn't be doing my clients justice if I didn't spend time studying.

I want to be a therapist that you can rely on to be knowledgeable and honest, and one that treats you as a person, not just focusing the part of you that hurts.

But if you only take one thing from this post, buy the houmous.

That was one of the best massages I've had and I was definitely taking notes for future seated massages I give (perhaps without the foot-assisted stretch...)

Nice to be in the chair for a change.

Thinking of how you can accommodate wellness in the workplace? All you need is an office or room with enough space for me, my lamp and my couch/chair!

Yesterday I was back at Carnival UK in Southampton for some 30 and 45 minute sports/remedial massage, and a couple of 25 minute seated acupressure treatments. Staff just book themselves in online in advance via my dedicated Carnival UK booking page.

Do get in touch if you think your business. could benefit from a bit of on-site massage.

All too often I see beautifully shot photos of hundreds of cups or needles (OK, slight exaggeration) on a "perfect" athletic body. This tells me the treatment isn't focused or targeted, it's just for show. I work with the intention of reducing pain, hypersensitivity and tension in the areas that need it, using the tools I believe will best serve that person at that moment in time. This includes my hands, my needles, my cups or a mixture of the three. Each session is different because each person is different.

If you're interested in finding out if I might be able to help you, get in touch or book yourself a session online.

The London Marathon is very close to my heart because the whole process of training for and running it really changed me as a person. It doesn't matter what the event or goal is, but committing yourself to something like that is bloody hard work and makes you realise you're made of strong stuff.

Then throw in a charity or person you're doing it for and it adds in a whole new level of determination, emotion and pressure.

For anyone out there running it today, enjoy it and keep your head up. Special mention to my incredible brother Anthony Senior who is running for Crohn's & Colitis UK who have been invaluable with supporting my sister-in-law with her illness (she's also pretty incredible). I went out for what is a fraction of the distance this morning, just so I don't get too jealous of watching all those people running it on the telly box!
