Gel Manicures are not being banned…but lazy reporters that use shocking headlines to scare people should be!

If you watched This Morning today, you’re probably digging out your old Barry M nail paints after Nadine Baggot told us that Gel Manicures were being banned and the only reputable nail salons are big, corporate owned Salons 🙃

I will be starting maternity leave in a few weeks but you absolutely do not need to find a big franchised nail salon to make sure your manicures meet regulations. As nail techs, we have known about the regulation change for a long time and our suppliers have reformulated their products without TPO. From Feb 2027, we will no longer be able to purchase products with TPO in but we can still use any existing stock that may have it in.

Find a nail tech that understands the science behind photoinitiators in gel polishes and why it is so important not to overfile the nail plate, not to apply the product too thick, to make sure it doesn’t touch the skin and that it is fully cured by a lamp that is in full working order and made specifically for the products they are using.

Please ask me any questions you have about TPO and the upcoming ban if you are worried and make sure you are using a nail tech that understands natural nail health and product safety, whether they are an independent standalone nail tech or a big franchise 🤍

Just a heads up that I am expecting to go on maternity leave at the end of September however, we all know how unpredictable babies arrivals can be 🙈
So, I am now taking bookings up until the end of August so if you are a regular client please book up to the end of August if you can.
I will take September appointments week by week and post on here when I have availability to try and avoid booking anyone in then having to cancel due to the baby making an unexpected appearance!
