Only 1 in 2 adults say they’d feel comfortable talking to a young person about periods*.
Then we wonder why so many young people are asking TikTok, Reddit or ChatGPT questions about their menstrual health instead of a trusted healthcare professional.
Periods aren’t difficult to talk about. We’ve just spent years teaching people that they are.

We hear the same period advice over and over again.
Don’t use scented products. Don’t leave tampons in too long. Change your pad regularly. And yes, all of that matters.
But there are also a lot of smaller, less obvious habits people never really talk about. Which is why so many people grow up knowing the “big rules” while missing everything else around them.

Buying period products shouldn’t feel like a part-time job.
You’re expected to understand ingredients, sustainability claims, certifications, supply chains, packaging, carbon footprints and greenwashing. All before you’ve even added someting to your basket.
The reality is that most people don’t have the time to investigate every claim a company makes. And they shouldn’t have to.
That’s why being a B Corp certified company matters. It’s a level of accountability that goes beyond marketing.
At a time when trust feels harder to earn than ever, that’s important. Because you shouldn’t have to become an expert just to buy an everyday essential.

People often assume period products are heavily regulated.
That if they’re sold on supermarket shelves, somebody, somewhere, has asked all the questions that need asking.
The reality is far from it.
The last decade has seen huge shifts in how we talk about periods. They’re discussed more openly. Period poverty is recognised more widely. Menstrual health is finally receiving more attention.
But while we’ve spent a decade making period products more accessible, we haven’t spent the same decade making them more transparent.

Most period research focuses on what’s happening inside the body.
But how much are our symptoms affected by our choice of period products?

We provided the products, you provided the stories.
This weekend, we were proud to be the Period Care Partner at , providing free period products across the festival AND hosting our Cycle-Smart workshop.
Over the workshop, one question sparked one of the most powerful conversations: “How does your menstrual cycle affect you”. Every answer was different.
A simple reminder that there’s no such thing as a “normal” period experience, and why better education, honest conversations, inclusion and better period care matter.
Thank you to everyone who shared their stories and to SISTALAND and for creating a space where conversations like these can happen.

Bladder leaks are one of the few health issues that seem to disappear the moment men experience them.
Yet, over 2 million men experience experience bladder leaks (source: the urology foundation)
When we talk about bladder leaks, the conversation usually starts with pregnancy, postpartum recovery or menopause. And while those are some of the most common causes, they’ve also helped create the impression that bladder leaks are primarily a women’s issue.
They aren’t. Bladder leaks are simply a fact of life for millions of people.
Yet for years, bladder protection has largely been designed, marketed and talked about as though only one group of people needs it. That’s never made much sense to us.
That’s why we’ve launched an organic bamboo bladder support range designed specifically for men to provide discreet, reliable protection.

Some bodily functions are considered normal. Others are expected to stay invisible.
Which is interesting, considering how common they are.
A lot of these experiences affect millions of women across different stages of life. Puberty. Pregnancy. Postpartum. Perimenopause. Menopause.
Yet the social expectation around them still feels strangely Victorian.

Periods and hormones are still treated like something only menstruating people need to understand.
But partners, friends and family members are part of these conversations too.
Most people learned the very basics of periods at school and then never really heard much about them again. Not about hormones, cycle changes, pain, PMS, heavy bleeding, products, TSS or the reality of managing periods in everyday life.
So this post is simply about opening the conversation up a little wider.
Send it to your non-menstruating partner, friend or someone who would genuinely like to understand female health a bit better.
