Why is everyone suddenly asking me about eyeliner?

Recently, I’ve had a bit of a run on permanent eyeliner enquiries.

Personally, eyeliner has always been one of those things I’ve never quite felt fully dressed without. But as I’ve got older, I’ve found the way I used to wear it doesn’t really work for me anymore.

Too much underneath can make my eyes look smaller and heavier. And the liner I carefully apply to my upper lash line in the morning has an irritating habit of ending up somewhere it was never intended to be by lunchtime.

Enter permanent eyeliner.

Done well, it doesn’t have to look like a heavy line of makeup. A subtle lash-line enhancement can simply add definition at the base of the lashes, making the eyes look more defined and awake — without having to reach for the eyeliner pencil every morning.

And it’s particularly lovely for holidays, swimming, exercise or those days when you just want to get up and go.

But I was wondering why I’d suddenly had so many women asking me about it at once.

And then it dawned on me.

Christmas. 🎄

Permanent makeup isn’t something to squeeze in the week before the Christmas party. There’s the initial treatment, healing time, and then a top-up several weeks later.

So if you’re thinking you’d quite like your eyes sorted before the Christmas holidays, now is actually about the right time to start thinking about it.

And frankly, as I know firsthand, waking up on Boxing Day looking slightly more alive than you feel isn’t a bad thing.
